Ol Man Viking

A mysterious interpretation of Neil Young’s beautiful song “Old Man”.
Strangely out off beat in a way, but, any way. The Viking association comes from the fact that I think it sounds like the theme music from the TV series Vikings.
I have a friend who usually criticizes everything I do, but he liked this one — so it gets to come along. Mostly real instruments.

The Past Recedes

Bought a saxophone and tried to practice it.
Maybe not quite serious, but here I added some playing to a track I´d already finished earlier.
Well, it went, I dont know, I think it went ok. Mistreated the sound processing thoug.

In the end I had to give the saxophone up for several reasons — one of them being that I’m allergic to grass. Saxophone reeds are usually made of cane, after all. Eventually, it led to bleeding sores around my mouth. But anyways.

Swirl (Virvla) 

My first solo project at the Studio Blue school.
The assignment was called “Eurovisioncontest” and the brief was:
Compose and document a song that could be performed using traditional instruments. It must include an intro, verse, chorus, and vocals, but must not exceed 3 minutes in length.

The result was this romantic pastiche, based on the very first chord progression we practiced during the piano lessons. I’m quite pleased of how that jazzy drum break turned out. No, I didn’t win the competition — but I came fourth out of about fifteen entries.

I really like this one myself.
A strange little piece. Just four chords repeating over and over again, in some kind of waltz rhythm. It might evoke a sense of Nordic melancholy. 
It rattles, clatters, and wobbles — but that’s fine. It’s meant to feel a bit rustic and folk-like.
