This song honors Major Stephen G. Barati and his service to the country as a US Army helicopter pilot. Major Barati served two active duty tours in Vietnam. As captain of his helicopter gun ship, he fired upon the Viet Cong enemy creating a path for sixty US Army troops to escape and evade into the Ia Drag Valley.  This event occurred just prior to the Battle of Ia Drang.
