Voted best band at the Shropshire Music Awards in 2022, Black Bear Kiss announced that their debut, self-titled album is due for release on 3rd March.

Showing their considerable faith in their new material, the band release a final single ahead of album release - Begin Again.
 
"This is really meaningful", says singer Chris Leech, "many years of blood, sweat and tears have gone into making this record. This was the last track we recorded with our late guitarist Rob Jones, so its very special to us. We’ve been through so much as a band and Begin Again shows what we are about”.

Say Something sees the band collaborate with Shropshire singer Michaela Wylde, combining soaring guitars with piano, violins and heartfelt vocals.

"Relationships and communication with the people we love change over time”, says singer Chris Leech, "From friends, family, work and everything in between, Say Something is a track about keeping that connection to those important to us - however difficult it can be at times”.

Calling Out sees the band release an upbeat track, but one that tackles the issue of mental health. With this contrasting song, the band aim to push further in new directions, whilst keeping the memory of the past. 

"4 years ago, we lost our best friend and Black Bear Kiss founder Rob Jones. We used to work on many demos, trying new ideas to share with the band”, says singer Chris Leech.

“Calling Out was one of those ideas and I’m pleased we can share this with the world - you can hear Rob’s guitars and synth on the track, alongside our freshly recorded material.”

“The song itself fronts up to issues and problems faced by mental health, whilst trying to find a way through”.

Black Bear Kiss formed in 2016 by long term collaborators and good friends Rob Jones and Chris Leech, Black Bear Kiss have grown quickly on the West Midlands & Shropshire music scene. 

Playing their own brand of upbeat, riffy rock inspired by Kasabian, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Queens of the Stone Age, the band pride themselves on high energy performances, leaving audiences wanting more. 

The debut single features the band’s trademark crunchy guitars, Hooks asks the question… What would you do to get where you want to be? 

Produced by Shropshire based recording engineer and producer Gazz Rogers, Hooks is a big track with lively, bouncy guitar melodies and a sing-along chorus, Hooks marks the arrival of Black Bear Kiss on the UK music scene.

Hooks the music video released on the bands You Tube channel was filmed and edited by Lost World Media, and is a classic boy meets girl story with a dark twist. Set in the abstract and wonderfully colourful Percy’s Care Bar in Whitchurch, the lead character doesn’t realise what he’s gotten himself into when he meets a girl with an insatiable lust.

Telling a story familiar to millions, the new single and video tells of a challenging 9-5 routine for the band, overworked and bored with a difficult boss. With the daily grind taking its toll, ‘Secret Side’ aims to shatter the 9 – 5 slog, as the band breakout with extreme hobbies, pastimes and ‘secret sides’. Cutting loose and feeling more alive than ever, the band turn their attentions to their difficult boss, who has little idea of what is about to come his way…

For fans of The Red Hot Chili Peppers & Kasabian, ‘Secret Side’ has strong basslines and soaring guitar solos, mixed with chilled out sections and melodic vocals. Adding a new layer with each listen, Black Bear continue to build their support across the UK with this track.

BLACK BEAR KISS COLLABORATE TO RELEASE NEW SINGLE ‘FOLLOW ME’ 

Following the success of their previous two singles ‘ HOOKS’ and ‘SECRET SIDE’, high energy UK rockers Black Bear Kiss are back with a new single ’FOLLOW ME’, which is scheduled for release on all major download platforms 18th January 2019.

‘FOLLOW ME’ is a positive and powerful song from start to finish. It does not divert from the infectious Black Bear Kiss style. Lyrically this track speaks of the pressures of modern day life and how we cope with constantly changing expectations. The track features a guest appearance from acclaimed Birmingham rapper and motivational speaker, ’Leo Goldenchild’.

Combining multiple genres is never an easy thing, but the upbeat, bass driven style of Black Bear Kiss naturally lends itself to this collaboration. After meeting Leo Golden Child at a charity fundraiser in 2017, Black Bear Kiss were keen to try something different and asked Leo to feature on their new single.   

The video is filmed in an urban, edgy environment. Highlighting the natural charisma and showmanship of a classic Black Bear Kiss performance. Leo’s positive lyrics and upbeat personality add another dimension to the layers of this addictive track, creating a fundamentally feel good song.

In a time of political and social upheaval, Black Bear Kiss ask the question – why can’t we do better?

“The song addresses some of the big issues, both home and abroad”, says lead singer Chris Leech. “The press and public figures in positions of power need to understand the influence they have - their opinions should not be treated as gospel. ‘Reach Up Higher’ is about trying to do better and not believing everything you read, especially on social media”.
