As you do . Piccie the long sufferin well travelled and much loved and respected Luca Bug. Oh the stories he could tell. Seperated from his twin at birth , stuck in a tree in a public square in a sleepy French market town overnight , only to be fished out by a crabbing line (handle. not hook end). Also abandoned and alone on Brittany ferries till stewardess holding him aloft waving his arm to cars departing . Of which we were one , we were all reunited that day. Our Love's like nuclear fission we've got a 2 way....
November 2019 , thirty years on from original conception and having had a makeover 2WT has a very new lease of life , similarities there. This is now dedicated to Grupo Mamaraccho Bristol, you know who you are. Thank you.

2 Way Transmission

Stripped back version , keeping it straight and true. Simply uncomplicated. Fuzzy Suspension bridge... Iona Likes this one which is spot on and makes me very happy. Originally this wasn't even going to be released I didn't feel it was anywhere near polished. Sometimes overplay and too much time  I feel destroys or taints/diminishes the intent that was first there. Often, for me , the first take (particularly of late , with the 'newest songs' and the 13 I have to load )it retains the 'essence ' and intent/purest edition.

All the components came together here. Admittedly bit rough and ready, tbh prefer playing though producing has its merits, its a learnig curve.  Can't get the riff out my head, it boomerangs only to return larger than life. Till the next new composition arrives...rock again or jazzer or thrash, surely not....

I wrote lyrics and tuneage on this one , Kerry added her mark and collectively Basck to Basics (Crowthorne branch) rounded this baby up and set her loose with a horde of percussive accompaniment, nice...… named after Graham's cat (if memory serves me right) my lyrics however were not originally intended for that kind of cat...Ginger. Tails in the air like you just don't care.

Atmos chorused Gibson, only one of three I've written lyrics for. Prefer guitar me, no comment.
With assistance from Back to Basics way back in Reading land. Kerry on vocals , Toddy percussion and Jef , hang on who's that on the Bass of Funk, COME ON Down.....VINCE , Yay!!
This was written after my first love and dalliance ended into obscurity. Probably best, some wounds take time to heal. Enjoyed the times we had though, Ha !

Flight Home

Free jazz remix (drum mix) for pedalling. This took several guises initially and just kept the cadence of rhythm riff as a constant almost mantraesque melodic beat and bassline. Too many words Nick, chill and relax as Harry says, 'Quiet time and don't forget your sandwiches when alighting children' .

Different departure in production as bassist and 808 state kidnapped me !! What dya'reckon? I really enjoyed it and it gave me the opportunity to do so much more experimenting. Looking to the Future , First Track of the new year then !!  Ok its jazzy, smooth and middle eight is super chilled, with a sparce lead guitar swathed in delay and reverb for extra atmosphere.

Really pleased musically with this as a definite challenge from the start, in playing (for me) and in collating the ideas across jazz chords, the differing beats , yet alone the Bass line and production. Admittedly it was penned between Christmas and the New Year and completed just prior to midnight.  Hope you like it and that its another immediate thumbs up or even better a longburner. Nick.

Several ideas came together here. In the spirit of the last song Monty Chill, this is more stripped back and acoustified ! Everytime I play this song the nuance changes and accents move however the feel remains and I have been told that it sounded reaffirming. Hope you like my random chord diagram , music is an education ! N

This has been a while in the making. It's been reconstructed more times than I care to mention, track 2 particularly got a hammering. Thought my four stringed friend needed some airtime from circa 1.42 secs in , only to be met by space aliens landing their intergalactic vehicle. One day I'll put lyrics to these.
Yes the theme to batman fits over this , that was more than 50 years ago so it needed a shake up. 
Luca said it was definitely 'my sound' and Sophie helped with the percussion, dried rice in a wooden plectrum box. And as for the bongo's …..

Blind melon - Sometimes

This isn't the cherrydot, this is the loud one being all shouty and central to the party, then brooding in the corner looking glamorous in its cherry sunburst way! Ok, big breath, so if you mould 'Enter 123', 'Gotta Get Up', 'Carpe Diem' and 'Thrash Dystopian Annihilation' you'll get somewhere near. Throw in 'In The Beginning', 'Humane', 'Spice of Life' and 'Cheshire Cat' too why not. To be succinct, this is loud, brazen, slick, chunky, and fun ROCK!

Lips On Mine.WAV

Written on the Les Paul, recorded on the Cherrydot. A delicate number in complete contrast to 'Lips On Mine' and the first of Four currently on the go. The melody caught my eye so I ran with it, this is reflected when played acoustically. Lyrics seemed to flow naturally, so from idea to completion in days. The stereo panned rhythm guitar is wrapped in the Tokyo Dreamland chorus effect. Well it's still Summer!

The riff's been around over a week. Had some recording nightmares with fragmentation, don't ask! However melody and lyric line were memorable so this is reborn! Lyrics were written whilst watching stage 2 of Le Tour!! Vive Le Tour!! Give it your best shot.

These three sections/riffs have been bouncing round for 4 days now so I've finally rounded them up into Cat & Mouse. I think it's the lovechild of 'Would You Be Cool' and 'Enter Your World' !

This is a departure from the usual, short and sweet. Sometimes the smallest pack the biggest punch. The intro/riff was written whilst in Sandhurst, lyrics penned last night.

Gibson Cherry Dot obsession continues. Inspired by exciting grooves and a 60’s vibe which I wear on my sleeve. There’s an eclectic mix of guitar fuelled rhythms all written, produced and performed by myself which have now culminated in 226 tracks in 5 years. Having added vocals to the mix this has brought a further depth and individuality to the songs. 2020 saw the creativity in writing and self releasing 2 EP's and 9 albums 'The Black Tulip' , 'Prismatic' , 'Who Would You Be?' , 'The Red Carpet', 'Cat & Mouse', ‘How This Plays Out', 'Positive Signs', 'All The Colours' and  '9' from April 2022, it's frenetic.
These are available on the usual outlets Spotify/iTunes/Deezer/Pandora/Napster, Bandcamp etc.

Its eclectic, quirky I confess, British? Experimental in places but above all stuffed full with Gibson guitars, energy and a passion for music and life in the highs and lows that days of late bring.  Hope you appreciate the artwork too all photographed or produced by me to keep it authentic and original.

The tenth album 'Keep On' saw the development of style and flow which  includes my personal favourites 'The Things That You Love', 'Man on The Run' and the title track, 'Keep On'. These all adapted a different approach and development that simply wouldn't have occurred at the start of the journey,  

The music's progressing and the album 'The Perfect Storm' set the benchmark in online attention with the title track single. I think the style and sincerity of performance mirrored the fact that all of my tracks are written for a reason and sparked by quite intense life changing events behind the scenes, you couldn't write it or maybe I could ! 
Personal choices at the moment are the opener Can't Erase The Memory, I Can and of course the single The Perfect Storm. 

Twelfth album ‘Heart Of Blue’, is completed and recently released  September 6th 2024. It's been a while (for me) in the making and each track just builds on the last. The themes of resilience, belief and positivity remain and the music continues to be guitar driven and punchy with hooks and catchy melodies.  

Album 13 is entitled 'Every Time' and is released to all platforms on June 12th. To come so quickly after 'Heart Of Blue' says a lot about the inspiration and creative drive. Themes of resilience, perseverance, hope and love, dominate in what I believe is my most cognitive and mature album yet, see what you think.
 
I'm thankful the creativity continues. The fact the writing and playing still excites and intrigues is a bonus! Where there's a story to tell and a melody to be heard the last song is always my drug for the next, 13 albums in it's not abating anytime soon.
