Due to an accident that happened in the CORE,parts of Undyne's body had to be replaced by robot parts and along with those body parts was part of Undyne's fighting spirit...but not all of it is gone.
Their is no genocide fight with Alphys as she's evacuating everyone else that's still alive. So instead you fight Undyne, who fights to give Alphys more time to evacuate everyone and to fight for everyone else who died.
