Passion, sexuality, and unrelenting fight are just some of the traits that makeup the aura surrounding DJ Short-e (aka Rynita McGuire). From her childhood in the system, to breaking free and discovering the rave scene of California in the mid 90s, she is a woman determined to become one of the biggest DJs in the country. All her life she's been on a mission to prove to the world that no one, no matter how they look, is ever what they seem.

Short-e was born with a birth condition called Arthrogryposis. This rare physical disability causes the joints in her arms and legs to become incredibly stiff and the grip in her hands becomes weaker. To compensate for the lack of reach or ability to grip, she taught herself to use her mouth for a lot of things, including painting and DJing.

Rynita has been into music her whole life. Her mom plays guitar and Rynita started singing with her at a very early age. This musical introduction spurred her to explore further into how she could express herself through music. She always wanted to be in the music industry in some capacity. When she was about 7, she got her first tape deck boom box and started making mix tapes of her favorite songs from the radio. She even mixed the tracks or put them in a set-list order to convey a message of her feelings at the moment. From then on, the seeds of Short-e's future artistry had been planted.

The edginess that is now so visible in Short-e's persona grew from her unrelenting desire as a girl to prove she was more than a wilting flower. "Despite my disability, I’ve lived my entire life like any other hard-core chick. I did everything all the other kids did. Sometimes I think I pushed the envelope even further to prove I was just as tough as or tougher than anyone gave me credit for."

In 1999, Rynita met one of the biggest influences of her musical career, Dave Albers, in which she quotes this situation... "One day he (Albers) came over with a brand-new set of turntables still in the box. He set them up at my house on a table so I could reach them. Then he showed me what buttons did what, gave me a handful of records, and left. Dave knew that by leaving it in the room - something I was obviously interested in - would make me want to try. And he was right. That night I played on his turntables all night. I didn’t sleep a wink. I use a wooden kitchen spoon in my mouth to turn on the lights and things in my house that I cant reach. So I grabbed that and figured out that I could use it to reach all the buttons and knobs that were out of reach for me. It was so exciting! I was doing the very thing I dreamed of doing at age 7, but even cooler than a radio DJ because I was using turn tables." Short-e is now an experienced spinstress working diligently in the cutthroat, dog-eat-dog world of DJing.

She's come a long way since her days of spinning with a wooden spoon. "I use a bendable typing wand mouthstick that I ordered from a rehab catalog now. The wooden spoon was a good springboard, but it just slid across the records. The mouthstick has a rubber tip so I can back cue, scratch, and torque the records. It grips the records much better too. If you can’t do any of these things, then you can't really spin."

DJ Short-e headlined her first party in December 2000. She displayed such a performance that night, she was quickly catapulted into a high-demand performance schedule. She started playing as often as 4 nights a week. Only 6 months after her debut, she was scouted by C-Pop Media to play the largest free music festival in the world, The Detroit Electronic Music Festival (DEMF known now as Movement). She played 2nd Stage DEMF 2001, followed by many other events and festivals such as Electro Rock III, Bass Invaders, and the 25th ADA anniversary on the capitol steps.

The gang of misfits started out as a 5 pack including Western Groove, Tim Forrester, Sam Pemberton snr & sir Tim Hamblin, but over the duration of the parties they have gained a futher two musical outlaws - 78Edits & most recently fox bothering balearic bad man Mike Boorman.
The night itself was born simply out of a bunch of mates getting together and having chance to play the music they are passionate for. Since its beginnings, the defining strength of 'Dead Horse Gang' has been about the showing of love and the promotion of good times. It's this attitude that let the gang entice one of the most highly regarded figures on the re-edit scene to take up residency with them. 78 Edits.


We take over a great little bar ( OPEN MIND CAFE BAR) on the first saturday of every month in Carlisle.

Inspired in 1983 watching the likes of a young Greg Wilson ‘The Tube’ and Chad Jackson setting a mixing world record on ‘Blue Peter’, Chris Hunter (aka Chris Jaegerossa) was determined to be a DJ. Chris worked with long time dj partner Jamie Lloyd, who became residents at Preston’s legendary Cheeky Monkey. They enjoyed other great residencies at Free 2 Dance, Green, Feel, Cream’s 10th Birthday Tour, Bed and Carry On, as well as guesting internationally. They later made their own production debut as Da Mentalistz with ‘Da Mash Up EP’ signed to Nu Northern Soul. In May 2002 Chris became Label Manager at Shaboom Records, releasing cuts from DJ Sneak, Doc Martin, Blakkat, Josh Wink, Onions & Joeski, among others.

When Chris and Jamie split, he continued to hold residencies and guest appearances at Hush and Revolution (Preston), Modo (Liverpool) Bed (Sheffield), Misdemeanours and The End (London). Alongside house, Chris’ roots are firmly planted in Disco, Northern Soul, Rare Groove and Jazz Funk. He’s a long standing member of the Philosophie Collective and the Sunday Soul Collective (later Supafly), playing funk under his alter ego Kenny Jaeger. Chris has now teamed up with fellow Six15 DJ Phil Rose to become DJ duo Jaegerossa and they host a weekly radio show on the well respected D3EP Radio Network. 

In 2015 the pair had their "Move your body" track world premiered on BBCR1 by Pete Tong, they remixes C&C Music Factory's Robert Clivilles Feat Kim Davis (Chic) track Set Me Free, remixed Groove Junkies - Sunshine and have a lot more in the pipeline.  With global radio guest mixes, and support of their tunes from the likes of Tony Humphries, Grant Nelson, Opolopo, Pete Tong, CJ Mackintosh, Benji Candelario to name only a few, definitely worth keeping an eye on...

With a career spanning over 3 decades, Cyril's foray into club culture began in 1990 when he transitioned from record collector to DJ. After a string of residencies in notorious clubs such as Ozone and Mars, he then went on to become a key figure in the emerging rave scene that defined Manila's nightlife during the mid 90s and early 2000s.

Though known primarily for his distinct blend of deep and jacking house, he cut his teeth playing a lot of soul, r&b, funk, and disco (among other things) — and has showcased his skill outside the house realm with gigs playing downtempo and indie dance with Andy Smith (Portishead), rare groove and disco with Norman Jay, to techno with Alan Oldham (T-1000), Evil Edddie Richards & Kevin Saunderson, just to name a few.

YaYa’s passionate love affair with music began early in life, with music and dancing a part of her household every single day. Her father, a former band-member in a popular Cuban band, instilled the importance of music throughout their home, and was often caught literally dancing his socks off in the living room—possessed by vibrant and intoxicating beats. Amidst the pulsating and happy chaos that was her childhood, she discovered her parents’ vast collection of vinyl records and her thirst for the most unique and rare vinyl finds became eternally unquenchable. She found herself spending hours on end in thrift stores, yard sales and record stores, and a star was born when she purchased her first set of turntables from a well-known radio DJ’s garage sale at the age of fourteen. From that moment on, YaYa has been following her heart and living her dream.

International DJ since 1996, YaYa strives to make a connection with her audience and tell a story through the magic of music EVERY SINGLE SET she drops. “It’s a CRAFT to do what I do,” she explains, “I’m telling you about ME when I’m mixing, while making sure everyone is on their feet dancing and having a good time! I love interacting with the crowd this way, and I always aim to MOVE everybody.” Her spirit is so vivid and colorful and FREE that you never know what to expect when she’s dropping a set—you might find yourself at the receiving end of a wink, a smile, or an exhilarating song you’ve never heard before!

YaYa’s career is well-rounded, having played at a variety of functions from political parties, fundraisers, private house parties, and state assemblies to music festivals, LA/LB Pride, nightclubs, after-hours, and concerts. So far, however, getting regular sets at Amoeba Music is considered her biggest honor as she muses, “think of the countless number of incredible artists that have graced the store with their talent! I’m beyond honored!” Her style defies all boundaries and can pump up a crowd of any age, race, and musical taste, and YaYa CANNOT imagine doing anything else.

Once upon a time, in Johnson City, TN, a surf rock band called the Sharkbaiters  were wondering down a dark alley.  Having ingested a heavy dose of a rare hallucinogen, they were so intrigued by the twinkling, beckoning aurora of the Wink Star that they did not perceive the members of the puke-on-your-shoes rock n roll band, Bear Trap, drunk and sprawled out on the pavement before them.  One by one, the Sharkbaiters tripped over the members of Bear Trap, and in the ensuing confusion, these eight, heavily inebriated musicians could no longer discern which band to which they belonged.  Ultimately, four of them arose and left the alley together to  take some temperatures and form the international super sensation known as Thundercock.
