Depois do lançamento de “Your Heart Is An Empty Street”, Dark Miles acaba de disponibilizar “When The Lights Go Out”, o segundo single de antecipação ao primeiro longa-duração do projeto a solo de Pete Miles.

O vocalista dos extintos MOSH apresenta ao público um tema que exalta a liberdade e a forma como esta é constantemente posta à prova, em particular nos tempos em que vivemos, e abre caminho para a edição de “10 Miles Into The Dark”, um disco representativo de uma viagem às profundezas da alma humana.

“When The Lights Go Out" surge durante a pandemia, “período onde nos vimos privados de algumas liberdades elementares, e consequentemente redescobrimos o quanto essas liberdades são frágeis”, sublinha Pete Miles, acrescentando ainda que “seja naquilo que sentimos, naquilo que fazemos, naquilo que queremos e naquilo que somos, essa liberdade é constantemente posta à prova, em particular nos tempos em que vivemos, em que o pesadelo da guerra voltou a retirar a muita gente a dignidade humana”.

A faixa e o videoclipe que a acompanha estão disponíveis em todas as plataformas digitais.


Dark Miles - Biografia

Dark Miles é o projeto a solo de Pedro Lima (a.k.a. Pete Miles), vocalista da extinta banda do Porto, chamada "MOSH".

Os MOSH foram uma banda de rock que existiu entre 2004 e 2010. Com muita popularidade no panorama rock underground nacional, os MOSH foram convidados para tocar no palco principal do Festival Vilar de Mouros em 2005 e abriram concertos de bandas de referência, como Marilyn Manson, Ill Niño, Soulfly, etc. O seu vídeo-clip passava frequentemente na MTV Portugal, foram nomeados para Best New Act pela MTV em 2007, foram convidados pela marca de "streetwear" Volcom para tocar no evento mundial da marca em Biarritz, e durante esses anos de atividade tocaram imenso dentro e fora do País e arrecadaram um "following" de fãs bastante considerável, tanto dentro como fora de portas.

Com o final da banda, motivado por divergências musicais, veio um hiato artístico que acabou com a chegada da pandemia e com um súbito surto de criatividade, que originou um disco focado nas suas influências para além do espectro mais pesado do rock, abrangendo principalmente os anos 80 e 90.

Com influências que vão desde Depeche Mode, David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Peter Murphy, The Sound, Psychedelic Furs, Peter Gabriel, até Mad Season, Stone Temple Pilots, Chris Cornell, Mother Love Bone, Temple of the Dog, Mark Lanegan, etc., a banda Dark Miles, do agora renomeado Pete Miles (pseudónimo de Pedro Lima), tenta com este disco homenagear essas duas décadas brilhantes da música internacional.

Gravado no estúdio de André Indiana, com exceção de 3 músicas, que foram gravadas no estúdio do produtor e engenheiro de som Mário Pereira, o disco teve a produção de Paulo Praça, a mistura de André Indiana e a masterização de Mário Barreiros. Todos os temas foram compostos por Pete Miles com a colaboração de Paulo Praça; as letras são integralmente de Pete Miles.

Para além de Paulo Praça e André Indiana (guitarras e baixo), participaram no disco Paulo Gravato (Pedro Abrunhosa) no saxofone, Eurico Amorim (Pedro Abrunhosa) nas teclas, Bruno Oliveira (Os Azeitonas) na bateria, Sérgio Silva (Expensive Soul) na bateria e Miguel Martins (Zen) na guitarra.

"10 Miles Into the Dark" é uma viagem às profundezas da alma, guiada pelo som de uma geração que resiste ao teste do tempo.

"You don't sound like anyone else," said Danny Thompson - renowned bass player for Nick Drake and Joe Strummer - about English musician Conil.

The GRAMMY-winning engineer for Tom Waits and Elvis Costello, Tchad Blake said: "Strange Part of the Country is an awesome album! I still listen to it."

Fleetwood Mac legend Peter Green liked Conil's music so much he stopped by Conil’s house to record with him. They recorded a version of Conil's homage to the jazz greats "Round Midnight". 

Strange Part of the Country never conformed to any current trends and has remained timeless. Now, people are discovering this album and it is becoming an all-time favourite. 

When the album was released in the UK, it received some amazing press. Britain's biggest selling music monthly Q magazine gave it: "Four stars - Q Recommends". Blues Matters magazine wrote: "One of the most original artists out there". In the next issue, Blues Matters put him on the front cover.

Conil left London after Strange Part of the Country was released and has spent the last ten years living in the United States and Europe - including New Orleans, New York City, and Berlin.

Fleetwood Mac’s Peter Green was also a fan, making a rare visit to Conil’s studio to record a mellow take on “Woke Up Around Midnight,” his smoky tribute to the jazz greats.

Conil’s distinct sound has drawn praise from Marc Ribot, Davey Graham, Pino Palladino, and John Leckie - artists and producers known for recognising the real thing when they hear it.

Upon release, Strange Part of the Country made quiet but lasting waves. Q Magazine gave it four stars and a Q Recommends stamp. Blues Matters Magazine put Conil on the cover, calling him “one of the most original artists out there.” In the U.S., “Years Between” climbed to number three on the Alternative Radio Chart.

Raised in England on the Rolling Stones, the Velvet Underground, and Tom Waits, Conil later lived in some of the world’s most musically charged cities - New Orleans, New York, Chicago, Austin and Berlin - chasing sound wherever he went.

That began early. He travelled far, met the Dalai Lama, climbed Kilimanjaro, and crossed the Himalayas - experiences that shaped his perspective and his music.

He is now finishing his long-awaited second album - recorded in New Orleans, Chicago, London and Greece - with Danny Thompson, Tchad Blake and more.
