A one hour story made especially for recordat #0031 by @checkpoint303, aired first on May 15th, 2021 as part of the Sonic Liberation Front on @radioalhara, an initiative for Palestine by a group of audio platforms and sound artists who came together to unify their sound for Palestine and protest against the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people.

Using site recordings predominantly from Palestine and the Arab world, Checkpoint 303 constructs soundscapes that weave cinematic audio with experimental sound processing and complex rhythms. Through its compositions, collected sounds and noise, Checkpoint 303 spreads a message of peace and a call for the respect of human rights. Contrasting with the mainstream media's exclusive depiction of violence and suffering in the middle-east, CP-303's sound collages also report on the heroic hope that subsists in the region as well as the seemingly banal but ever so meaningful little things that embody a daily search for normality in a state of emergency.

Thank you for inviting me to be a part of this @ednamartinezdj . Made a mix with songs that say more than anything I could write really.....Going to play two songs I wrote a while ago, one which I performed live in January 2020 at the Museum of Memory & Human Rights in Santiago and another which was made shortly after, they're both influenced by what was taking place in Chile at the time which mirrors in some ways what we are seeing in Colombia now. As some of you may know, since the end of april in Colombia there have been more than 2,000 cases of police violence against protesters, 33 victims of eye injuries and more than 40 civilians killed by the police. Since the beginning of the year more than 60 rights defenders have been assasinated, and among them 20 were indigenous leaders. Since 2016, over 400 human rights defenders have been killed. In all this darkness, there may be some hope that the protests can create meaningful change. Last Sunday, Chileans elected a new group of citizens who will write a new constitution for the country. This was one of the core demands of the huge protests of 2019/2020.  It will be the first anywhere in the world to be written by an equal number of men and women and it will replace the constitution that has been in place since the years of the military dictatorship.  The only reason this moment of hope is possible in Chile is because of the incredible social movements that rose up to demand change. As I've said elsewhere, the courage and determination of Chilean students, activists, protesters, writers, artists has been astounding and they have/are shifted/shifting the political landscape and will continue to do so. In the past month I've heard stories of Colombian protesters taking cues from Chilean protesters and beautiful solidarity between Colombians and Palestinians also. We have so much to learn from each other. May this solidarity and interconnectedness bring us better days and in the meantime may music sustain us and nourish us. Palestinian Sound Archive: Majazz Project X Checkpoint 303170122

This fourth episode of Turbo Sud on @radioalhara is an hour of South Italian acoustic guitar songs by songwriters, sonaturi, cantastorie e cantori, such as the legendary Sicilian singer Rosa Balistreri, pop star Domenico Modugno, and a little-known Calabrian Arbëreshë music group called Moti I Parë. The show groups together a collection of both well-known and rare records mostly from the 60s and 70s with very different themes, such as love, the struggle of South Italian's working class and the hardship and nostalgia of emigrants.

Meta_ - Fuego Sagrado (2023) (single)

Meta_ is Mariana Bragada on the quest to find her inner roots.
She is a singer, composer and producer from Trás-os-Montes (North Portugal Region) to share the connection between ancestral wisdom and unite it with electronic music.

Meta_ will release her debut album XIV- A Integração in May 2023 with the Argentinian Label ShikaShika, premiering it in Primavera Sound Porto in June.

She has been weaving her sound tapestry alongside the trips in Europe, where she did an European Tour, and South America, where she traveled to explore the self and to work for Live Sound in a theater play. She aims to reimagine sound without
borders, in between feelings and the story--telling of her hardships and fantasies,
creating a hybrid universe of organic and electronic sounds.

With her voice as the main instrument, the interdisciplinary artist has been playing
solo shows since 2017 and will now bring a new format to the shows, with 2 more
musicians on stage. Festival da Canção (Portuguese Eurovision Song Contest), NOS Alive, WestWayLab, Festival Bons Sons, TedX and SofarSounds, have been a few places where Meta_ has shared her magic.

In 2022 she also played in Rio Loco Fes- tival (Toulouse, France), Urkult Festival (Sweden) and showcase festival Mumi (Galiza, Spain).

She has collaborated with Xinobi in his newest album Balsame released in April 2022, with two songs- Mujer and La Tormenta, being now part of the Live Band of Xinobi.

With Xinobi, Meta_ has played in Europavox (France), MeoKalorama (Portugal) and played for ArteConcert.

In 2022 Meta_ sang in the movie Lobo e Cão by Cláudia Varejão and in early 2023 Meta_ was part of Invencível Armada as an actress.

Besides her project she also has been doing sound design for theatre plays for 5 years. Meta_ has previously collaborated with OctaPush (PT) FOQUE (PT), Bom Beijo (SE), Temple Rat (Shanghai, China). Meta has also been invited to sing with: Papercutz (PT), Luíz Gabriel Lopes (BR) and LaBaq (BR).

The show delves into a peculiar niche of South Italian music repertoires exploring themes connected to the life of donkeys and horses. Expect old songs tipically recited by horse cart drivers in the streets of places such as Napoli, Palermo, and Salento, as well as a selection of other sort of songs entirely dedicated to the life of the two species.

The mix will explore the intricate relationship between man and these animals, the hardships of farmers life in post-war Italy and the love for these creatures, but also their dreadful exploitation that used to take place in mines and fields, or still happening in contemporary clandestine horse racing.

Prazeres Interrompidos #198: Catch 22 - Joseph Heller (2008)

Catch-22 is a satirical war novel by American author Joseph Heller. He began writing it in 1953; the novel was first published in 1961. Often cited as one of the most significant novels of the twentieth century,[3] it uses a distinctive non-chronological third-person omniscient narration, describing events from the points of view of different characters. The separate storylines are out of sequence so the timeline develops along with the plot.
The novel is set during World War II, from 1942 to 1944. It mainly follows the life of antihero Captain John Yossarian, a U.S. Army Air Forces B-25 bombardier. Most of the events in the book occur while the fictional 256th US Army Air Squadron is based on the island of Pianosa, in the Mediterranean Sea west of the Italian mainland, although it also includes episodes from basic training at Lowry Field in Colorado and Air Corps training at Santa Ana Army Air Base in California. The novel examines the absurdity of war and military life through the experiences of Yossarian and his cohorts, who attempt to maintain their sanity while fulfilling their service requirements so that they may return home.
The book was made into a film adaptation in 1970, directed by Mike Nichols. In 1994, Heller published a sequel to the novel entitled Closing Time.

We decided to incorporate only samples from Palestinian artists, as well as voice inserts from journalists and/or victims. 
As a Muslim, Sara chose to include a Quranic verse "Israel" to pray for all the innocents. 
We deliberately observed a minute of silence after the prayer for reflection and, of course, to avoid blasphemy.

Time Passes - A tribute to the late John Berger ( 1926 –  2017). This is a remix/collage/soundscape of John Berger reading Ghassan Kanafani's "Letter from Gaza". John Berger was an oustanding intellectual, writer, poet, artist and humanist. He was a strong supporter of the Palestinian struggle for freedom, justice and self-determination.
