For the 111th edition of Desert Hut Podcast Series, we’re pleased to welcome Da Le (Havana).

Dj´s & producers Iván Lejardi and David Casas have merged their aural universes with their duo “Da Le (Havana)”, a collaboration that blends powerful electronics with the wealth of traditional and Afro-Cuban music.

Fresh from the producers labs, Da Le (Havana) rhythmic experiment has been put to the test at Havana´s most in-demand venues, such as Fabrica De Arte Cubano (FAC), Havana World Music Fest, and Eyeife Fest among others.

Here their sound recipe hints at an evolution in the Cuban electronic music scene, traversing local frontiers and setting up an identity amongst the international circuit.

Both artists are finding in the past and present of their Cuban roots the very substance of what has made the island a true cultural hub for years. “Da Le (Havana)” is borne to the world by the strength of Cuban musical traditions and the producer´s will to uphold this heritage from their unique experience within electronic music, committed to the contemporary scene; styles like Afro-House, Deep House and Afro-Beat are naturally found in their repertoire.

Borella is a Toronto-based electronic music artist known for her melodically dynamic sound that mostly falls on the deeper side.

Be it downtempo or darker and more progressive sounds, she makes sure to guide her listeners through different soundscapes; taking them to a space where words don't speak and music is the only language of thought.

She took her very first music lessons at the age of five with her father who is a professional percussionist. Later on at the age of twelve she took her first guitar lessons in classical and Spanish disciplines.

A former ballet dancer, Borella draws a significant amount of her inspiration from her dance training, and often introduces genres such as jazz and classical music into her mixes.

Her love for electronic music developed in her teens. After digging in the underground scene for a few years, Borella found herself drawn to the deeper journey-like sounds that spoke a slightly more complex language than others.

Her sets are known to take the listeners through delicate and powerful journeys that are vibrant and dynamic. “This mix is a deep wander into a sea of emotions.”
