Lukas Lyrestam drops three reworks on his ‘Clouded Edits’ EP via his own Clouded House imprint this week. We’ve got the exclusive premiere of his edit of Prince’s ‘Erotic City (Lyrestam’s Jackin’ 90s version)’ above.

The third release from Lyrestam on Clouded House – after last year’s ‘1989’ and this year’s ‘Can’t Move’ – sees the Swedish producer turn one of Prince’s all-time classics into a jackin’ 4/4 driven slice of funk fueled house.

Speaking about the release, Lyrestam told DJ Mag, “To me, ‘Erotic City’ sums up everything that’s vibrant and exciting about the early days of house music. After this year’s heartbreaking event, the least I could do was try and reimagine it in the 90s vibe that I love so much.”

50,000,000 Elvis Fans Can't be Wrong is the debut by Alabama-raised, Austin-based Caroline Sallee, aka Caroline Says.  After college Sallee took a job as a waitress in Yellowstone as an exercise in solitude and independence.  With the money she saved there, she took a transformative journey via Greyhound to explore the West Coast before returning to Alabama where she would record her debut album in her parents’ basement.  50 Million puts us in the seat right next to Sallee where we can feel the warm West Coast light through the window, the bus route charting the lines between our youth, and our delayed future.  These kinds of debuts can sometimes feel like an over-promise of what is to come, but in the case of Caroline Says there's clearly plenty more thread to be unraveled. It'll be a pleasure to see where the next bus ride takes us.

Planet E are proud to present ‘AW18 Collection’, a 3 track EP from British producer Tom Flynn due September 14th. Drawing upon a broad and learned musical understanding, ‘AW18 Collection’ fuses disparate strands from the worlds of fashion, club culture and sound design to forge a highly atmospheric, singular release.

‘Packard’, the title of which is inspired by parties in the historic Detroit power plant of the same name, establishes an unrelenting energy from the get go. A bouncing kick lays the foundations for rolling synths, unnerving vocal samples and delicate piano refrains to wander. ‘Anna’ is an indulgent nod to the catwalk, marching with intent amidst immersive chords and subtle melodies.

The B side hosts a trippy cut full of interplanetary glitches and melancholic harmonies. Drawing upon hints to the extraterrestrial, ‘Marx’ creates a dizzying swirl with glistening textures.

Carl Craig was sold straight away: “When Tom sent me his demo of ‘Packard’ I knew I wanted to release it on Planet E. The mix of looped electronics with soul of the piano brought me back to when I first heard the post-Disco classic ‘Beyond the Clouds’. I can imagine the kids on The Scene rockin' hard to this.“

I wrote and recorded this album over the past several months and each of its tracks comes from a different facet of my life. A lot of stories and dreams coming together to create a larger project. So much has happened since I first started making these tracks that when I listen to them now, they seem like snapshots from completely different times. I wondered when I’d be comfortable enough to let these go. Well, we’re finally here, and I’m so happy to say that this music will no longer just be mine, but ours to share.
