Return of the mighty Jack Pattern on the highly collectable Lustapoderosa label. A lot like the world we currently occupy, Jack Pattern's sound heads darker on this release, recalling distant memories of dystopian nuclear wastelands, Total Recall-esque interplanetary life and the rise of AI machines. With a hefty collection of vintage drum boxes and weighty analogue synthesizers, the EP throbs and hums in all the right places, with UnknownMix singer Magda Vogel's vocals really doing the track on "Codex". Fans of that dark, electroid sound from Borft, Frak and Tillander will love this, as will general lovers of EBM and new beat. It's discordant but harmonious, jagged and mechanical but rhythmic and enveloping. It's absolutely brilliant but definitely not for the faint hearted!

He was deeply uncertain as the lights began to flicker prominently in the dark of the midnight hour. The street was illuminated by the pearly glow of orange beams from pillars which looked like metallic aliens had landed precisely spaced upon the earth. Are friends electric? Were the flickering objects his moonlight companions amidst a dream which had left him feeling lost and far away. Walking slowly he began to moved between the glowing frames, he danced. 

Djedjotronic is set to release an album on Boys Noize Records and we are delighted to premiere a track from the forthcoming project featuring the lovely Lokier.

"The Music of the Secret Society that Owns Belgrade - Volume 2" is second in the series of compilations by Inverted Spectrum Records that aims to capture and promote the unique underground music scene of Belgrade and its environs. The compilation series is planned to continue on an annual basis with a revolving cast of bands and musicians, and with a festival to celebrate the launch of each album. This year's two-day festival will be held at Kulturni Centar Grad, on March 13 and 14, 2019.

The Music of the Secret Society that Owns Belgrade - Volume 2

As Smooth As Feat. Zoja B - Svetli Dani [Inverted Spectrum Records]

Λένα Πλάτωνος (Lena Platonos) is a Greek musician, pianist and music composer. Her third solo album, ‘Lepidoptera’ was produced in 1986 and reissued by Dark Entries in 2018. Inspired by a scientific book on butterflies she found in a trashcan one day, the compositions follow minimalistic motifs and carefully-staged soundscapes. Lena narrates each song in deadpan fashion, skillfully reciting her surreal Greek poetry.
We’ve recruited 4 contemporary Greek producers to remix their favorite tracks from ‘Lepidoptera’. First up is “Cyaniris” remixed by Anatolian Weapons who delivers an enchanted late-night journey through the New Wave forest. Next is “Araschnia Levana” remixed by Pasiphae who speeds up the pace with machine driven melodic electro pulses. On the B-side we have June remixing “Cyaniris” twirling the track into a complex deep sea dive with lush drum kicks and pads. Closing out the EP is a remix of “Τα Γενέθλια Ή Aporia Maturna” by Morah who leads us to the underworld of Hades via sinister squelches and full-on apocalyptic rave breakdown. All songs have been mastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The jacket is a reinterpretation of the original ‘Lepidoptera’ cover, isolating the illustration of the butterfly/woman designed by Eloise Leigh.

We at Microdosing will make Opportunity’s famous last words fully ours. Some would see these as an epitaph on a black screen, we embrace them as a reclaimed fragility. Are we grains of sand wandering in space, hoping for a goal? No. We are the cosmos, the cosmos is us, unafraid of the
end, unafraid of the void.

Before the rise of the infinite silence, Microdosing brings you new guiding lights, white sun or black hole being a simple permutation of the kinetic rainbow.

Oceanic’s “Parallel Lines Of Stripes” is a meandering mantra, an synthesised Moebius ring, a mission to your heart, that furthest star in the sky.

Gilb’R’s “Cosmogonie” simply reminds us of the profound relation between spatial systems and the holy act of birth (cosmo, world and gon, conceive). The universe is a body, your body is your universe.

Lucas Croon’s “Threshold Stimulus” is the soundtrack of a never ending voyage, the man is on a trip to the core sanctum. Imagine Space as a reverberation room cladded with bakelite. Losing yourself in delay repeats sometimes is the shortest way.

Neuzeitliche Bodenbeläge & Sam Irl’s “Faeden” is another hymn to the umbilical chords joining us to the outer world, a black monolith of kraut acid, a pagan dance as portal to a destination only you can choose.

Microdosing will be back soon with more enablers, helping to turn your petty struggles into a search for a meaning of life.

Microdosing is a series of compilation 12”s selected by Julienne Dessagne aka Fantastic Twins, and designed in collaboration with French visual artist Geff Pellet.

Microdosing is a collective experiment aimed at helping you fighting back your modern obsession with happiness. You may deserve a nice day but the day does not need a nice you, nothing should be forced, everything is permitted.

Microdosing will provide you with sonic healing weapons on regular basis and at irregular dosage. Those doses will favour psychedelic social techniques against self help tyranny, creation oversoma, provoking over numbing, our outer-selves over our inner-selves.

Microdosing refuses the fatality of the pleasure principle.

There was a frosty feeling in the air this evening, a sense that something sinister was headed this way. The clocks had gone back the previous week and the days had got shorter and the nights considerably longer, bringing with them an overwhelming darkness. As the couple walked their normal path home they couldn't help but look over their shoulders. It was eerily silent, almost too silent. They hadn't seen a passer by since they began their journey. Perhaps it was just paranoia or their imagination working on overdrive, but it felt as though someone or something was lurking in the shadows...

Berlin-based imprint Ombra International's next V/A release welcomes five talented producers from around the world. International by name, international by nature. Exploring electronica, EBM, rock and everything in between, the release features offerings from Slovenia, Russia, Mexico, Belgium and our pick from Indonesian producer Arvin Fajar. Opener "In The Shadows" creeps along slowly, flaunting epic guitar twangs and weaving together influences from EBM, dark disco and new wave.

‘Halo‘ shoulders certain aspects of techno easily, yet avoids the trap of predictable, overdone tropes. It’s a cold one, for sure, but — as with the entire EP — there’s a lot more at play here than another record of effective yet soulless dancefloor fillers. Diversity of sound, and solid technique mark this record front to back.
