This mix is once more a hidden gem! I just ❤ it!

Often compared to a living, breathing thing, a proper club night ebbs and flows as people dance the night away. The peaks, the lulls, all powered by a pulsing, rhythmic beat. Steady, ever so steady. Simone Bauer’s ‘Aurea’ evokes those same emotions and feelings of an evolving night from the depths of the beginning to a soaring finish. A journey if you will. From the thump of the first heart-like beat, the ethereal pads bring in an introspective touch and act as a fine mist over the staccato of shakers and other percussive elements.

Aurea will let out into the world on March 15th, via the French imprint, Accents Records. Joined alongside by a litany of other amazing producers, this will mark the fifth VA compilation the label has put together.

PREMIERE: Simone Bauer - Aurea [Accents Records]

This week's selection comes from the Belgrade-based Schwabe. He is known for being half of the long-standing Serbian slo-mo duo Tapan with great releases on labels such as Crimes of the Future, Malka Tutti, including a remix by Timothy J. Fairplay, a remix on Elephant Gait, and more. His production career began within Kompleks, a live duo he once formed with his pal Lule. As one of the founders of the Disco Not Disco series with DJ Brka and Toshke, they've hosted the likes of Vladimir Ivcovic, Ron Morelli, Black Merlin, and many others. He also boasts a sick Boiler Room broadcasted from 20/44 and performances at Atlas Electronic in Morocco. Lock in for an hour of dark, slow and seductive rhythms by a master in this space!

Reflexions Podcast 17 - Dionisaf

This mix was called something entirely different and essentially meaningless until I listened to it again this morning prior to uploading. It seemed to me that the mood of the world ATM required something more apt. Whilst this is more meditative etc, there is an uneasiness about it which reveals itself at various points. The first track I feel reflects what I can only assume must be similar to in a subway tunnel not knowing if or when you can get out. Unknown echoing noises from above. Claustrophobia and fear accompany solace throughout the mix. I hope this situation ends soon. Thoughts to everyone across the planet affected by this. Peace.

2022 rework of a early 2003 Monolake track. I just wanted to see if i can still open a Live set I made with Ableton Live 2 in Ableton Live 11. And then I spent the afternoon playing with it and decided to share the result. There you go! :-)

Donato Dozzy, Marco Shuttle and Ultrastation are among the names on these great remix package on the trustworthy SoHaSo label. After two well received EP's -Laren and ZL2- Bas Dobbelaer and Vand asked a few like-minded spirits to reset the dials of some of their best work. With their melancholic, melodic and highly detailed techno-infused productions, the two Dutch producers carved a name for themselves over the last four years.

Italian producer Donato Dozzy takes Transit (a track from 2019) into a lush, green forrest. Where dew water is still dripping from the trees while string-like melodies slowly swirl around them. Beautiful stuff.

Gal Tsadok-Hai takes a similar path, though his take on Gateway to Gaia is a bit gloomier. Dusk is setting in and so is melancholia.

Same goes for Marco Shuttles version of Reflect, a track from 2021. The London-based Italian producer left out kickdrums and basslines, settling instead for a feverish percussion-infused meditation.

Once on the flipside, the club vibe truly kicks in. With a minimalist, bassline heavy remix by Shoal of Story of Blade and an equally effective techno remake from Ultrastation, who turns Runner into a hypnotic peak time monster.

Jin Mustafa is a Stockholm based DJ with a keen sense of narrative and suspense. Her sets are deviced of enthralling techno, delving into hypnotic rhythms without shying away from bold moves into industrial and experimental territories.
Mustafa has also been active as an event organizer, as part of Grupp 13, the former collective Samlingen and the club project 
Arcade Overseas, which combines art and music at Fylkingen - an institution for experimental music in Stockholm. She is also a member of the off-kilter techno duo Karabasan Drane.

The latest edition of our long running mix series features a lady close to home and close to our hearts. Chloe is our favourite, she has been for a long time having released prominently on the likes of Kill The DJ, Les Disques De La Mort and of course our very own Ransom Note Records. She's worked alongside a key number of producers and musicians and we are excited to say that there is exciting work in the pipeline as we speak. As a vocalist she has collaborated with Ruede Hagelstein and Maceo Plex and as a musician she's as talented as they come. With an impressively mesmerising live set she really is a special talent....

However, what some of you may not know is that Chloe is as sick behind the decks as she is when performing live, we don't say this lightly. This mix is a clear reflection of that as she draws for music by the likes of Das Ding, Patrick Cowley,  Il Est Vilaine and more.

Our next guest is Claudia. She’s based in Prague and runs the Deviant mix series ánd club night at Ankali, which we consider to be one of the best clubs Europe has to offer. 
Then there is Planeta Za, Ankali’s sibling, and home for Claudia’s residency. A place dedicated to the experimental cut that tries to have a different take on music and a more community-based approach.
Her mix is a representation of her impeccable taste, which takes us into a story that lights up, jerks in reality and feels balanced, alert and calming in a pleasant way. The route. Always there, but the flow is now very welcome.

Knekelhuis # 73 - Claudia

I’ve always flip flopped through musical genres. Metal, Indie, Dub, Electronic falling in and out of love with them.

Deep techno though, this one is a keeper. The solace, emotion, stillness, energy and compassion it invigorates is something special. 

I try to include that in all my mixes.
