Some of our art is made on computers, some of it is made by hand. We are particularly interested in that gray area in between where you cant really tell. All of what we create here is one work laid out in segments, all connected. The Mystic Tape Deck universe is vast and explores all manner of adding meaning to our lives, while pondering meaninglessness.

What's a reason why some of us create?

I like to spend my spare hours working with raw sounds that are slowly fashioned into something a good deal different from where they started. I work in the box and make regular heavy use of granular synthesis, compression, pitch shifting, distortion, eq, saturation, reverb, delay  and other techniques to gradually craft something that I have not heard before but at the same time in some way, I somehow recognise. This mix of sounds is built, mixed and mastered in such a way that it can then go on to ultimately trigger that dopamine award system when uploaded.  Once on SoundCloud I typically make 10-20 subtle revisions which helps sharpen and build the buzz/hit. If I'm really lucky the track might also have a positive effect on others who listen to it as we make connections on the sounds or perhaps a deeper understanding/recognition of how we all might arrive at our final creations. Once the dopamine hits level off it's starting to be that time to begin the process all over again.
