When I was a little lad, I would have these mental breakdowns where I would be in a secluded part of the house, lost in my head for hours... I would experience these weird sensations that I had dubbed "the slow fast", "the quiet loud", "the far near", "the dark light" ... by far the most sinister and disturbing among them was the quiet loud. I would picture a thousand demons around me screaming at me from all directions... but there was a nomadic man standing directly in front of me. If I made eye contact with him then suddenly it would become quiet around me except the look of disappointment and that disapproving shaking of his head although silent, would start to magnify in my head to the point of me having to look away and then the screaming of the demons would start again. I had to go back and forth from loud to quiet to loud to quiet until I'd snap out of it.
