The Simcoe native was a successful New York advertising executive and popular contributor to the National Lampoon, Vanity Fair, Playboy, and The New Yorker.  He also worked as a writer for Saturday Night Live and authored two bestselling memoirs, both focusing on his early life in Norfolk County.  The podcast features an interview with Bruce's daughter Amanda who said that he developed his love of drawing and writing before the age of ten and that his celebrated career really started in his family home in Simcoe.

Her book has been described as a mix of compassion, humour, and hard-earned experience.  She is a mother of two who had own serious health issues during her pregnancies and can not only relate to new parents but also to local authors who sometimes struggle to balance other pressures and find time to write.

Liz’s book recounts her life with schizo-affective disorder, profound hearing loss, and repeated psychiatric hospitalizations that began in her teens.  Our conversation include discussion of self-harm, suicidal ideation, and other issues that may be upsetting to some.
