As a lifelong native of the Northwest section of Washington DC, commonly known as “Uptown,” Chico’s commitment to his stomping grounds is undeniable. “Every man has his own path,” he says. “I represent the guy who’s determined and I come from nothing.”

Needless to say, Chico MDA was raised by the streets, as neither of his parents were able to devote much time to his upbringing. As a result, he was left to fend for himself and learned the art of hustling at an early age (11 years old).

From juvenile detention centers, to group homes and various adult facilities, he eventually earned his stripes on and off the streets – in and out of the system “There were consequences,” he says. “There were lessons that I learned and ultimately, a cost for my lifestyle.”

At the age of sixteen, Chico was sentenced to 40 years in prison for attempted murder. While inside he started to lean on his spiritual sensibilities, developing an even stronger relationship with God. Unsurprisingly, he also turned to music as an outlet to release the anger, frustration and pain that’d built inside him.

In time, Chico was granted another appeal and the court ruled in his favor. After all the prayers, steadfast faith and visions of life outside of prison walls, he was released.

 Now on a mission to motivate & uplift those like himself, almost feeling ordained. Chico MDA music displays struggle, hustle, pain, & gain in a way that takes listeners on a journey of a man from the streets seeking redemption.

Spiritwalker, released November 2nd 2018, from Haitian-American singer-songwriter Malou Beauvoir,is a call. It encourages us: to rise up against the forces that work to polarize and drive us apart, to awaken to our spiritual ancestry, and to draw on that ancestry for guidance, support and inspiration.

The Music speaks for itself, I hit various topics with versatility and I have a unique delivery with charismatic word play that comes from my own life experiences and a collection of my thoughts, this is the foundation of My Music.   The feeling of sharing thoughts and feelings through my music is amazing!
