Telharmonic is the only sound generating module....  

Patch Notes:  Using Mangrove Formant output into a VCA which has slow LFO modulation (ramp wave). This is fed out into another VCA which has an AD envelop (rhythmic gates from Stillson Hammer mkii). This 2nd VCA output then goes into the Telharmonic FM input. The H output feeding Optomix Ch 1 and then to Clouds with Blend at 50%. The P output feeding Optomix Ch2.  

Both channels of Optomix have strike inputs and AD envelopes to open/close the VCA. These AD envelopes are from Quadra and have some random applied to Decay amount via Expander. The Decay is also tweaked by hand.

Batumi LFOs are mixed with Samara and sent to various parameters including Mangrove Freq input and barrel input, Telharmonic Centroid, etc. 

Stillson Hammer is sending pitch CV into Telharmonic Tonic input and Degree input.  Tonic is sequenced at x4 clock and range is changed by hand from 0-8v to all other settings (0-2v, 2-4v, etc). Tonic sequenced is also toggled from Fwd to Rnd.  Degree is sequenced at /4 clock. All sequences are quantized to Dorian mode.

Octone sequencer triggers some gates and sends pitch to Clouds. 

Knights Gallop is striking Optomix based on 8x clock. The Pattern input is modulated with LFO.  

 Telharmonic P output (Optomix Ch2) is sent to mixer Ch1 and has random LFO shape into Pan CV.  Clouds output, which is Telharmonic H to Optomix Ch1 to Clouds, is send to Ch8.  Both channels are fed via Aux into DLD. 

Then just wiggle and tweak...

Telharmonic Generative Patch

Just a very, very, VERY rough/quick riff with my new Deckard's Dream synth, using a Linnstrument as controller (in MPE mode) and processed with a touch of reverb from a Meris Mercury 7.  DD is in Sustain 1 mode, with aftertouch triggering the LFO modulation and speed.

Still getting used to the Linnstrument, hence the roughness in some of the pitch bends.  But, the basic idea is there.

Glass Rings

Joe Miller is a music composer, sound designer, and audio engineer. Since 2008, he has crafted original music and sound for more than 20 films, national TV series, marketing campaigns, games, theater, etc.  A decade of writing on commission, in popular genres and with standard tools, created a need for new forms of personal artistic expression. In reaction to this, making music in the "modular method" has become a primary form of self-expression and music experimentation in Joe's life.  These improvised experiments are released under the name Xin.

In Chinese philosophy, xin can refer to one's disposition or feelings or to one's confidence or trust in something or someone. Xin has a connotation of intention yet can be used to refer to long-term goals. Xin (心) itself is a concept that is as much cognitive as emotional.  This blend of cognitive intention and emotional reaction is the essence of this approach to modular music making.

First exploration of the new Synthesis Technology E370 Quad Morphing VCO.

Patch is a polyphonic krell in C Major Pentatonic, utilizing 2 Make Noise Maths cycling envelopes to shape the amplitude and timbre of each voice as well as trigger the Ornament + Crime Quantermain's quantizer to update the note for each voice based on the cycle time of the envelope. The pitch of each track is then split between a channel of the VCO and its respective Math's channel's Both input (causing the cycles to speed up and slow down based on the current note pitch). The rest of the modular audio path the four voices is two channels of an Optomix, a Manhattan Analog MA35, and a Mutable Instruments Ripples. They were then each panned in Ableton and sent through Valhalla Reverb and two of Ableton's new Echo effects (Echo is awesome!).  The other modulation is provided by another Ornament + Crime in Quadraturia mode, each channel of which is sweeping E370 wavetables, as well as supplementary LFOs from uLFO, Disting, Mother-32, and Polyvoks Modulator. The LFO from a MF-103 pedal is also getting its rate modulated by the Polyvoks and then that LFO is providing some vibrato for all 4 voices.

Xinshu is an experimental playground for Ambient and Electronica. The Baudrate is his Dark Ambient mirror image.  All the music is created with modular synthesizers at the core of the work.
