Placid. Adjective. Meaning: “calm and peaceful.” While this may describe Craig Placid’s demeanor, his musical style is anything but serene. As a DJ and producer, Craig has carved out a reputation for delivering deeply complex techno, driven by hypnotic rhythms and multi-dimensional beats. His sound reflects a lifetime of rhythmic exploration, beginning at age 13 when he taught himself to play the drums. This early foundation is evident in his masterful ability to weave intricate beats and layers, creating a rich sonic tapestry that captivates listeners.
When Craig steps behind the decks, his mission is simple yet profound: to take the
crowd on a transformative journey. "The best part of DJing is creating the soundtrack to someone’s night—offering them a selection that could redefine how they hear and experience dance music," he says. It’s an ambitious goal, but one that Craig consistently achieves with his dynamic sets.
As one half of Sound Sensible alongside his brother Grant VR, Craig is a stalwart of the South African techno scene. The duo has been a force in electronic music since 2007, earning the respect of both fans and peers for their impeccable track selection and ability to create unforgettable dancefloor moments. Together, they were foundational to the success of the legendary TOYTOY nights in Johannesburg, holding a decade-long
residency at what became one of South Africa’s premier underground dance music
events.
Craig’s residency at TOYTOY was a pivotal chapter in his artistic evolution, giving him
the platform to experiment and introduce Johannesburg’s discerning music lovers to a broader spectrum of innovative underground techno and house sounds. Today, Craig Placid continues to push the boundaries of electronic music, delivering sets that are as immersive as they are unforgettable, proving that while his name may mean calm, his music is a whirlwind of energy and emotion.

Claudio PRC’s (@claudioprc) fifth album, Self Surrender, unfolds as a reflective journey of self-acceptance, a story embracing reality in its purest and most unfiltered form. Released via Delsin Records, this marks his first full-length album on the label, following the EP’s Rites of Passage (2021), Challenger Deep (2022) and Golden Scales (2024).

The album explores different and more leftfield sonic corners, while remaining true to Claudio’s cavernous, deep, and spiritual essence. It’s a journey through different styles, with echoes of the past and contemporary influences merging.

Self Surrender begins with ambient and dub echoes, moving through dark, minimal rhythms and deep techno. It blends techno and house elements, exploring themes of sin and redemption with cutting synths and tight grooves. This first half of the longplayer closes introspectively with a reflective ambient piece.

In the second part, the sound shifts to more energetic techno. It’s driven by heavy kicks and dreamy atmospheres, with acid-laden textures and haunting strings. To conclude, Self Surrender closes with an ethereal track, fully embodying the theme of surrender and acceptance.

Born in Sardinia and now based in Berlin, Claudio PRC has been a key figure in the deep techno scene since 2006. His music is deeply rooted in a philosophical approach, drawing from Detroit techno, electroacoustics, and his academic background in Music and New Technologies. Over the years, he has released on labels such as Prologue Music, Semantica Records, while also establishing his label 012 as a platform for art and sound research.

Katnada presents the first EP "Liminal Bloom'' on her new label, Divine Nature.
The EP is a reflection of her sonic identity — a fusion of raw emotion, meditative grooves, and ethereal vocals.

The journey begins with “Rhythm,” where her voice becomes a hypnotic chant — a hymn to rhythm itself. A minimal groove slowly expands into orchestral movements and emotional peaks, bringing into a full journey. The Edit version releases the orchestral rise and flows back into the stripped-down beat.

“Untamed” follows with a fluid, rolling groove, where all elements are elegantly woven together. The vocal evokes surrender to the course of this mysterious life, driven by a mystical pad that adds spaciousness and introspection.

“Aphrodite” slows the tempo into a sensual groove with a dreamy soundscape.

The EP includes a remix of “Rhythm” by End Train, who reimagines the track, transporting the vocal into a haunting new realm.

INSTINKTLABLP003 by Miles Pinkert unfolds like a late-night city map – raw, flowing, reflective. It’s a record that moves between functional grooves and introspective spaces, with one foot in the club and one in a more open, abstract terrain.

“Rundown” and “Gonna Get Down” set the tone – direct, rhythmic, body-focused. Tracks like “Neo-Minimalism” and “Jezero” slow things down, drawing from restraint and atmosphere. “Year 2099” looks ahead with a cold, digital gaze, while “Come On, It’s Late” balances tension with softness. The final piece, “Raum (Space)”, lets things dissolve – wide, detached, and unresolved.

A record built on subtle contrasts: repetition and shift, density and breath.
