Greetings! My name is Marc Lamontagne and I'm a Calgary based musician & composer playing the Piano, Keyboards & Harmonica. I perform in the Calgary area and keep active with two or three musical groups and projects at any one time. The musical genres which I perform live are Blues, Funk, Soul, Classic Rock, 50’s Rock & Roll, Traditional Country & Yesteryear Pop/Jazz. The sounds that I love to incorporate in a band are of course the acoustic piano, electric pianos (Rhodes/Wurlitzers), and the classic B3 organ but I particularly enjoy carving out parts for orchestral strings, pads, woodwinds and various other effects that make a cover tune complete. With today’s sound modelling and sampling technology applied to keyboard instruments the results can be quite dazzling.

My time is also spent composing original instrumental works which can be heard right here on Soundcloud. I often bring in local artists to contribute a musical part into my songs. Look for the song titles “Saying Farewell and Goodbye”, “The Good Farewell”, “Seashore Ballad a La Montagne”, “The Canadian Western”, “Journey Onward”, “The June Song”, “Just Because”, “Flight”, “Tropical Envy”, “Autumn Ballad #1” and “Pulsation Jingle No. 1”. My material is registered and copyrighted and I am a SOCAN member and by extension a member of ASCAP. I am constantly on the lookout for good & reputable Production Music Libraries that would accept my music for film & video productions.

I’d like to think of my music as strongly melodic, harmonic and rhythmic in character. The piano is my voice and instrument of expression for creating, playing-out melodies and chord structures. What will follow may be a combination of instrumental sounds such as Strings, Accordion, Flute and Acoustic Guitar to name a few. My musical genre can best be described as Instrumental, Easy Listening, Cinematic Soundscape, Relaxed & Ambient. The moods that I attempt to conjure will be Romantic, Sad, Calm, Peaceful, Dreamy/Reflective, Mysterious/Eerie, Laid/Back, Emotional, Happy, Inspirational etc... 

My compositional playing styles are likely influenced by Jazz, Latin (Samba, Tango, Cha-Cha ), Pop Rock, French/World, Blues & Classical music.
Musical influences from which I draw from are pianists Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett, Michael Kaeshammer, Shirley Horn, Diana Krall, Allen Toussaint, Latin composer Antonio Carlos Jobim, Vocal giants Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Joni Mitchell, Tony Bennett, The Bee Gees, Rock group/artists Chicago, Sting, Tango-Fusion Musical group The Gotan Project, composers John Barry, Gabriel Faure only to name a few.
