Some rain recorded outside of the house that we stayed in at Cordoba, Argentina.

This series of sounds was recorded using a Tascam Portacapture X8 at 32bit/96000 Hz using the ORTF configuration.

The audio was edited using Reaper.

The idea of the Cordoba project is to share some natural sounds that can be used for multiple purposes like films or games.

What you hear in this track are the very high pitched and ultrasonic parts of the crickets songs slowed down and brought into the audible spectrum. Originally these frequencies were mostly between 20 and 40 kHz, well beyond our normal hearing range. 
The result sounds quite unusual, a bit creepy and extraterrestrial but also very cool. It doesn't sound like crickets anymore, more like dinosaurs, I imagine... or a gang of drunk roosters... LOL

Frogs in the first weeks of activity of the year. It was the warmest night so far, unusually high and although I went to the lake's edge, they were so loud that they could be heard from a long distance. This is also a place to see and hear herons and sometime storks, but this night it was all for the frogs.
I was testing out a Zoom F3 for the second time.

The hypnotic drone of bumblebees “drinking” under an ancient beech tree, near Arney bridge in County Fermanagh. A good friend and neighbour mentioned they heard a huge hum on their dog walk down this lane. By the time the recordings were made (around two weeks later) the drone had considerably faded, so you can imagine the numbers of bees and the size of this beautiful tree.

Initially, we were unclear as to why the bees were attracted to this particular tree. Research suggests that bees are attracted to honeydew*, which is the sugary substance secreted by aphids when feeding on tree sap.

This track is a composite of the field recordings and processing to extract and subsequently adding the fundamental frequency of the droning.

A stereo recording of a pretty large colony of Red-Bill Gulls next to the Otago Yacht Club. The microphone used was AT BP4025 and the recorder was a Zoom F6. The audio file was then edited and tweaked in Apple Logic

During a recording trip to the Chatham Islands, I came across this hive near one of my recording sites. I carefully positioned my AT BP4025 stereo microphone as close as I felt safe to the hive. I recorded the sound with my Zoom F6 and edited it in Apple Logic. For an immersive experience that feels like bees buzzing around your head, be sure to listen with headphones!

Recorded July 12, 2012 in a birch & pine forest on the slopes of Val Veddasca (Italy, Varese, Lombardia) at about 1100m altitude, about 6pm, on an overcast, gray windy day.   AT4025 mic into Olympus LS-100 recorder, mic input 'hi', gain 7.   Post: HPF at about 300 Hz and an overall 6 db increase in volume.   

Although the Blackcap is a very common bird in this area, this may be of interest for those contemplating the AT BP4025 mic.  It's OK for a quick draw, easy setup mic for use on the run while hiking.   This forest was full of individual singing birds that would go on and on and on...  too bad I didn't have the parabolic mic with me (it's not that easy to travel with a parabolic dish).   This is not my usual recording area, so I am not 100% sure of the bird ID.  In the background there are distant church bells and assorted other noises.
