PROGRAM NOTES
Although Deep Blue Ocean is not meant to be overtly programmatic, I thought it would be wonderful to explore the oceanic depths, so during a trip to the Gulf of Mexico I became a certified scuba diver. I was truly inspired, whether by the large rolling waves on the open sea, the delicate back and forth of beds of seaweed, the vibrant colors of fish clustering around cities of coral, or the beams of sunlight that cascade over the ocean’s surface.

I was also inspired by my four year old son Dylan: his name means ocean or god of the seas in Welsh; he is an Aquarius, which means the water bearer; he is an excellent swimmer, and he loves listening to a movement of one of my choral works entitled Infinite Oceans.

While writing this piece, I could not have known that the worst oil spill in U.S. history would occur just north of where I visited. The darker moments in this work are the result of this tragedy. It is in three connected movements: The Darkness Below, Sunbeams and Waterfalls, and Accents and Waves.

Deep Blue Ocean is written for Steven Gosling and Blair McMillen of the American Modern Ensemble and is dedicated to my son Dylan.

Frogs with goggles on trippin' on LSD!!!

(Verse 1) In the heart of the swamp where the fireflies glow, Frogs rev their engines, ready to go. Dune
buggies roar, through the slimy muck, In a race for dominance, fueled by luck. (Pre-Chorus) The crowd
gets rowdy, with a lusty cheer, As frogs place bets, fueled by beer. They wager their skins, on the fastest
ride, In this wild race where egos collide. (Chorus) Racing through the swamp, in a dune buggy spree,
Frogs with goggles on, trippin' on LSD. Engines roaring loud, the ribbits are getting bizarre, In this
tripped out wacky race, we ride amongst the stars! (Verse 2) Mud-splattered chaos, under the moon's
glow, Frogs take the lead, putting on a show. Drifting around curves, with ballsy moves, In a race where
winners make daring grooves. (Pre-Chorus) The spectators holler, with a raunchy shout, As they watch
their favorites, tear it all out. With each lap completed, the tension heightens, As they gamble on winners,
with desires whiten. (Chorus) Racing through the swamp, in a dune buggy spree, Frogs with goggles on,
wild and free. Engines roaring loud, through the murky night, In this amphibian race, they'll put up a
fight! (Bridge) As the checkered flag waves, and winners are found, The swamp comes alive, with a
primal sound. Frogs leap in joy, in a hedonistic spree, In celebration of their swampy victory. (Verse 3)
But the party's just starting, it's time to unwind, As they gather 'round fires, in a frenzied mind. With
swamp water cocktails, and firefly light, They indulge in pleasures, throughout the night. (Pre-Chorus)
The losers and winners, come together in delight, In this swampy bacchanal, 'til the morning light. They
raise their glasses, to racing and fun, In this debaucherous revelry, until they're done. (Chorus) Racing
through the swamp, in a dune buggy spree, Frogs with goggles on, tripping on LSD. Engines roaring loud,
through the murky night, Tripping through dimensions, in a psychedelic plight (Outro) So here's to the
frogs, and their wild dune buggy ride, In the heart of the swamp, where passions collide. With engines
roaring and mud flying high, They'll keep racing on, 'neath the lustful sky! (Chorus) In this chemical
playground, we're feeling free, In a whirlwind of sensation, for all to see. With each touch and each taste,
we'll explore the unknown, In this swampy wonderland, where pleasures are shown. (Verse 1) Under the
strobe lights, the scene comes alive, As frogs hop and sway, in a psychedelic dive. With each dose and
each hit, we're pushing the brink, In this chemically-charged carnival, where we drink. (Chorus) High on
the buzz, and soaring on trips, Frogs with goggles off, licking psychedelic drips. With pills and powders,
we're on a wild ride, In this swampy frenzy, we'll let nothing hide. In the moonlit swamp, where secrets
abide, Amphibians feeling all kinds of wide-eyed. With psychedelic hues, in their minds they're rode,
Through realms unseen, where reality's strode. The night becomes a canvas, where dreams unfold, In the
psychedelic journey, where stories are told. They dance with the stars, in a cosmic waltz, As their minds
unravel, in psychedelic vaults. (Chorus) High on the buzz, and soaring on trips, Frogs with goggles off,
licking psychedelic drips. With pills and powders, we're on a wild ride, In this swampy frenzy, we'll let
nothing hide.

Froggies' Wild Ride

The main theme is another one from my distant teenage years, written on a small keyboard as a flute tune. 
My friend like it, so we fooled around with it and even recorded a song called ''Field of Dew'', as a satine of folkish/radio friendly love songs popular in Dalmatia, that alone probably influenced me to use the theme for a romance-like composition.
Sentiment and content wise, it is very personal, filled with melodies reminiscing all of turmoil one can experience in love, from happy moments like the first glance in the shared with one another in a crowd during a Metallica cover band concert, strolling through the sun bathed forest of Gorski Kotar, and many more, both happy and unhappy. 
This piece is dedicated to Vanja Kalemba, the mother of my son and also the author of many paintings I use as a art cover of my compositions.

I'll Make It Through

Whispers of Yesterday

While I was composing my F-sharp minor Fantasy, I found myself stuck on a particular middle section, struggling to find the right variation to complete the piece. Eventually, I succeeded, but before that happened, I wrote numerous segments that didn’t quite fit into the piece.

Fortunately, some of these discarded variations began to resonate with each other, leading to the creation of smaller pieces that I grew very fond of. The first of these became my Prelude in F-sharp Minor, and the second, the Moment Musicaux in A Major.

These two compositions share some motivic figures down to the note, yet in feeling and meaning, they couldn’t be more different. Despite the brief scope of the Moment Musicaux in question, I believe there is much to discover within it, with every new small section providing something unique and unexpected.

Dance of the Fire Spirit

Legacy Broken is a cinematic orchestral concept album that explores the psychological weight of legacy, family, and emotional silence. Blending restrained elegance with hypnotic minimalism, each track unfolds like a room in a haunted memory palace—echoes of conversations, legal inheritances, betrayals, and unresolved grief.

Muted strings, fractured piano motifs, trembling horns, and emotionally conflicted harmonic structures form a sonic language of unspoken tension and decaying tradition. The arrangements resist resolution, allowing silence, repetition, and space to carry as much meaning as melody.

This album is not just a score — it’s a portrait of inheritance, power, and the long shadows of memory. The finale song "Inheritance of Silence" concludes with a vocalized song about empty love, wealth and social responsibility.
