In its 13th year The Young Songwriter 2023 (SAYS23) competition is the world’s leading songwriting competition for young aspiring songwriters, aged 8-18 (under 19 years), to get their songs heard by leaders in the industry & connect to a talented community of young songwriters aged 8-18 across the world – both aspiring young songwriters who already have some experience, and those writing their first song!  We are uplifting and empowering songwriters/creatives of the future.

This year’s competition attracted over 800 high quality entries from aspiring young songwriters aged 8-18 across the world, both experienced young songwriters and those who’ve written their first song.

SAYS23 Star Judges include Fraser T Smith, Amy Wadge, Calum Scott, Plested, Miranda Cooper, GRACEY, Eg White, Jimmy Napes, Emily Phillips, Hannah V, Sodajerker, Sacha Skarbek, Dan Gillespie Sells, Janet Devlin & Simon Aldred.

After more than 6 years on SoundCloud now, with 239 tracks behind me (of which about half composed, arranged, mixed and recorded in collaboration) that were released in 14 SC solo concept albums and 10 SC collaborative concept albums (one of them, in fact, a single) - all available for free here, in the Albums section - and with 1924 SC followers as I am writing, I would consider myself experienced enough to start selecting beautiful music from my SC favourites in occasional playlists of about 10-15 tracks (or some hour of play time). Here is the 1st one, of today, 30 January 2023: I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do. Many more inspired compositions or songs by many more favourite SC artists in various genres will, of course, be appearing, as the next playlists will be gradually added. This new initiative of mine also comes after - and celebrates - 62,990 listens, 10,010 likes, 4,603 reposts and 6,137 comments to my SoundCloud tracks.

Composition started in July 2021.

Finished and edited in November 2022.

Last composition using KV331 and Synthmaster One, months before they deactivated the inter App function that I use on my ipad to use sounds.

It is fragmented into an intro, then a piano fragment to move on to another electronic symphonic section and end in an orchestral section.

It is one of my most complex music for which I have used:

30 tracks from Music Studio 2 with native and Xewton forum instruments.

2 tracks from Korg iM1

1 Prophet track (Arturia)

7 Synthmaster One Tracks

1 Track of Digital D1.

Made exclusively on ipad.

Mix in my car....perfectly parked.

Introduction in English:

In my late 30s, I still suffered from frequent anxiety and panic attacks. During this time, I had a recurring nightmare: I am lying in my bed at night. Some dark, strange figure comes into my room. It slowly comes closer to me. Before it reaches me, I wake up screaming and drenched in sweat.  
One day my female psychoanalyst encouraged me to relive this dream with her company. Like a fairy godmother, she now sat in my imagination at the edge of my bed and held my hand. Thus I succeeded in letting the dark figure come closer. And at some point the strange being stood in front of me and I could look him directly in the face. And suddenly it became clear to me that it is the death which stands beside me; which probably always stood beside me and also always will stand beside me: My eternal companion. 
Since these sessions, panic attacks and anxiety attacks occur very rarely. And when they do come, I now know that it is basically my residual fear of finitude, of having to die, and finally of death. And from this realization, I can feel all the more in all my depths the legendary sentence of Sigmund Freud: "If you want to live well, prepare yourself early for death". The song "Finitude" was written against the background of these experiences It is in French, because for me this language comes closest to such existential themes.
