Patanjali's Yoga Sutra 1.39 tells us that by meditating on any object of one's choice, one can attain steadiness of the mind.

Patanjali's Yoga Sutra 1.35 tells us that when a sensory experience manifests directly from within ourselves, it leads the mind to a state of concentration.

"Lokah samastah sukhino bhavantu" is a Sanskrit prayer/mantra meaning, "May all beings everywhere, through all time and space, be happy and free".

The Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra, or "Death Conquering Mantra", is considered one of the most powerful mantras in the yogic tradition.

ॐ त्र्यम्बकं यजामहे सुगन्धिं पुष्टिवर्धनम्
उर्वारुकमिव बन्धनान्मृत्योर्मुक्षीय माऽमृतात्

Om tryambakam yajamahe
Sugandhim pushthivardhanam
Urdvha rukhamiva bandhanam
Mrityor mukshiya maamritaat
Om shanti, shanti, shanti

"I surrender myself to Lord Shiva, who has three eyes, who is as pleasurable as a sweet-smelling incense and who gives vitality to the devotee to perform devotional service.  Just like a cucumber is freed from its stem naturally, be merciful upon me and release me from the shackles of death, not from deathlessness.  Om peace, peace, peace."

We can interpret the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra as liberating us from the bondage of the fear of death and impermanence, and from our attachments which bind us during life.

The Teacher Student Prayer is often recited at the beginning/ending of yoga classes, and encourages both student and teacher to learn from one another in a spirit of loving kindness, compassion and respect.
