Submorphics (Greg Axelrad) has made his name with soul-drenched, deep, emotive, nostalgic-yet-forward-thinking music. His productions display a fine-tuned signature sound with a distinct tone and melodic sensibility that has earned him admiration from fans, DJs and music lovers alike.

Releases like ‘Long Been Gone’ and ‘Higher Ground’ (Ft. T.R.A.C.) cemented him as one of the top soulful D&B artists in the 2010s, leading him to start releasing longer projects focusing on deeper emotional musical journeys with an emphasis on sonic detail. Tracks on Shogun Audio, Hospital, V Recordings, Metalheadz and Integral saw Submorphics demonstrating a unique take on soulful D&B, connecting the dots between his eclectic influences from Detroit and Chicago with UK Drum & Bass. 

Signing to The North Quarter in 2018, Submorphics released 5 larger projects on the coveted Dutch label to widespread acclaim. Joining the dots between soulful hip hop + D&B in his own trademark voice, the Detroit Haze EP and Kodak Dreams LP put a stamp on his longtime sound and vision with stunning effect - garnering love from both the D&B scene and larger beats scenes. 

Following this, 2021’s Newport Magnetic EP demonstrated a refined sound palette while still retaining his trademark deep melodics. Then in 2022 the Verona Highway EP showcased an even wider screen electronic vision and emotional range, honing in on a moodier Detroit-themed synthetic D&B sound. And in 2023 the script was completely flipped with the psychedelic guitars and hazy organic beauty of the Moonbeam Drive EP.

Later that year his darker Detroit influences returned with the popular Galattico EP on legendary 31 Records. 

And then with little warning Submorphics launched Rosebay Music - an imprint that has proved to be 1 of the standout labels in the soulful D&B realm. With a carefully A&R’ed release schedule, Rosebay tunes have received widespread support from across the board of the D&B scene. 

All this has lead to an active DJ schedule and Submorphics has travelled the globe playing his favourite soulful bangers and the best in modern D&B, engaging with fans young and old with his passionate take on the genre.

Representing real drum and bass at it’s finest, Mantra’s deep and emotive sound in the mix comes from an intense passion for the music. With a selection that’s both inspirational as well as educational, her sets bring the beats into balance and cross the spectrum of dark and uplifting styles. Much more than just a DJ, Mantra has already made an impact across the drum and bass scene and looks set to keep rolling strong. 
Conscious of the history of the music she loves yet always looking to push things forward, she’s no newcomer and her involvement with drum and bass runs much deeper than just a hobby. Having worked for record distributers SRD as well as promoting her own regular club night, Rupture, she’s learnt from the ground up and built a solid foundation on which she continues to grow.
The success of Rupture stands testament to Mantra’s hard work and commitment, and that of her partner Double-O. Borne of a desire to take it back to basics, Rupture has gone from strength to strength with original line ups that combine the best new DJs alongside some of the underground’s leading lights. The night has built up over the past 10 years to form what is now recognized as London’s best underground dnb night. 
Her productions have been supported by dBridge, Loxy, Flight, Storm amongst others. With releases line up on AKO, Repertoire, UVB-76 and Rupture LDN Mantra’s productions are set to keep moving forward in 2018.

Total Science - A Brief History

Jason Greenhalgh (Q-Project) and Paul Smith (Spinback) first met in 1987 brought together through their mutual love of hip-hop music. Over the next few years the pair developed a deep appreciation for Techno and Dance music at the beginning of its worldwide takeover. By 1991, Spinback was an established DJ, gracing the decks at events week in week out including the world famous “Universe”, meanwhile Q-Project had entered into the studio, his first release "Freestyle Fanatic", Their first label, Legend Records was launched with Q-Project’s highly acclaimed "Champion Sound" in 1992. It took their profile to new heights, and it remains one of the most influential tunes of its time and generation this was swiftly followed by the start of their early recording career together under the name Funky Technicians ……and so the unstoppable collaboration had begun.
In 1996, the well established pair launched the Computer Integrated Audio (C.I.A) label and the alias Total Science, was born. Over the coming years, Total Science had releases on all the major D&B labels including Metalheadz, Goodlooking, Moving Shadow, Hospital, Tru Playaz, 31 Records, Reinforced, Soul:r, Shogun Audio to name but a few, as well as releases under their own C.I.A. and various other imprints.

Total Science/ Q-Project have release 4 albums, however, the actual number of singles and EP’s the pair have released is currently an unknown quantity. Their relentless yearning to create music and dogged approach denotes there are just too many to mention! but defining tracks of Total Science 20 year career include:
