How to Hold Her

My sister Cindy wanted me to write music for her. It is becoming increasingly hard to play and that makes me sad.  I have lay so far back in my powerchair that I can't see the controls. I can't tolerate sitting up, it's too hard to breathe. Some days I can't even get out of bed.

My son attached a projector to my computer so my screen is now 6'x4', and I have a small keyboard I hold in my hand. So I try to keep up, but it takes much longer to do anything. ALS is not easy to deal with. It's important to stay positive and make good use of the time I have left.

Something To Remember Me

A tribute to all those hours in the life that we loose with utterly senseless stuff and that vanish into oblivion. Not the hours that we loose on necessary evils like household chores but rather the ones like doomsscrolling where we know, we could and should have used them better. But then in the end - does it really make a difference in the long run?
 
Three times the same motive with different turns after a few seconds respectively (at @0:00, @0:57, @1:50).  And an appendix  @2:19 with an open quesion and the hint of an answer.

Again, this composition will come with lyrics in due course, however, since I don't have access to my studio currently, this will take some time - will likely publish some other things before.

Я любила Тебе

Continuing my work on the hypnotic aspect of a melody, this third installment concludes my Hypnotic series. Throughout this research project, I felt free to break away from pre-established patterns and generally accepted conventions in music. However, innovating means daring to try and experiment with new forms, new ideas and new concepts.
I had a lot of fun creating this song, so I hope you will enjoy it too and have a lot of fun listening to it. Now it's your turn.

This cover of the CCR version of this Screaming Jay Hawkins classic began as an idea Josh had for Eclectic Collective putting on a musical Halloween costume. He was inspired by his favorite band, Phish, who cover an entire album every Halloween as a musical costume. Although, which song we covered was up for debate from the start.

Once we decided on a song, Josh laid down the skeleton for it on his '71 SG. Once we had a framework to work with, Ken laid down his rocking drums, followed by Josh completing the rhythm section by adding his trusty P-bass. Even though the song was now in its infancy, Carl summoned all his Halloween spirit for his dynamic vocal performance.

Now that it was sounding like a real song, JJ dropped both the key piano part, as well as his expressive organ in there, too. Mark wasn't far behind, adding his magic via the sax to the solo section, and strings in the third verse. Stephen came through with the spooky tremolo guitar and the fiery first half of the guitar solo in the solo section right after. And to put the cherry on the musical sundae, Tez brought the lightning down for the second half of the guitar solo, as well as the solo work that leads the whole way to the end.

We all enjoyed bringing this classic song back to life, and doing it in the spirit of what may be the most fun holiday on the calendar. We hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed creating it. Happy Halloween!
