My latest song, Empire, was born from the haunting Dunkirk beach scene—young soldiers lined up in silence under the blazing sun, waiting. No speeches, no music—just the weight of dread. Their stillness felt like bravery. Above, RAF pilots fought unseen, alone in the sky, risking everything for those below. The song emerged as a sound collage, built from simple chords and evolving textures that captured the quiet courage and tension I felt. It’s a sonic reflection of that liminal space—between fear and hope, action and stillness.

       This song I wrote back in 2011 and I wanted a swampy, funky, sexy, soulful, sound to it, just a slow mellow vibe to groove to in a slow dance or something. I was going for that Barry White or Marvin Gaye kind of vibe. I worked hard on the lyrics and tried to capture that first date/first dance kind of chemistry! A little spark in the dark, if you will! Charlie did a great job singing it. I had done a video for it early on but it just wasn't very well done so I remixed the song and produced a new video for it about a weeks ago. I think it sounds and looks way better now. Let me know what you think? Watch the video for a little extra excitation!😂

This song is intended for adults to enjoy, no silly love song here!😂 I was trying to write a "Strangers In The Night" type of song with a funky beat. Nothing personal and no back story for this one, just some Funky Fun for all the Dirty Dancers out there!😂 Remember you can't spell Funky without a little Fun! This song began as an idea Tez came up with on his guitar while on holiday not far from his home in Wales. It had such a solid form, it inspired Mark to write lyrics and come up with vocal melodies within a few days of hearing it for the first time. The two of them have written several songs like this, making them a solid songwriting source for Eclectic Collective. 
  Once the song had a even more solid form, Ken took added his dynamic, bouncy-groove drums to it. As soon as Ken had the drums down, Josh took his turn, adding the fretless bass and solidifying the groove. Now that the basic framework was done, Stephen added his thrilling electric guitar. Last, but certainly not least, JJ added his dancing organ and the really cool, psych synth lead part in the bridge towards the end. Mark also added some awesome backing synth to it, as well, filling out the sound. At the very end of the process, Tez also dropped in the hot intro and outro solos, as well.
  Once we had it all in the can, it was time to turn it over to Tez for his expert production and mix. He came up with the idea of adding reverb to the drums, as well as some other compression tricks, which he employed with subtle style. 
   This, as mentioned, is a great example of what Eclectic Collective can do in house with the composition and songwriting skills of Tez and Mark. The rest of us really had fun working on this one, too, of course. We hope you enjoy listenig to this as much as we enjoyed making it.
