All It Takes is A Smile (+ video)

      This song is an odd one, I was trying to write a dreamy, spacey, kind of Pink Floyd song and this is what I came up with! Charlie sang it perfectly but the recording was muddy and didn't sound quite right, so I cleaned it up and remastered it and then I produced a video for it a couple of weeks ago. The video is brand new and it does have a pretty cool vibe to it! Very Sci-fi!! I worked hard on it and I hope you all like it!

As always in my life, she rescues me, I hate being alone and if I recall I wrote this around the time my wife was going through chemo for Breast Cancer, everything is fine now and the cancer is long gone! It was a scary time for me and hence this song! Anyone can tell how I'm feeling at a certain time by my songs, if they're sad, I was sad, if they're happy, I was happy, and so on and so forth! So this is a little different than my usual happy-go-lucky, lovey-dovey songs but one must remain versatile in life or one becomes obsolete, so they say! I like to experiment with my songs and here's one of my experiments! Open your mind and let her heaven hands reach out and rescue you too! Cheers!🙏😎✌🏼

This song I wrote way back in 2003 about the little lies that lurk in between the lines that people say sometimes or that you say to yourself too! I was in between marriages and was in a full-blown mid-life crisis mode at the time! 😂 6 years of way too much partying! It was fun while it lasted though! 😉 I re-recorded it during the pandemic and sang it myself. Sorry about that! Here's the video link:

       This song is my cover of a song that was performed by The Monkees and written by Andy Partridge for them several years ago in 2016! It's a great song to put in the middle of winter, when it's freezing cold outside! It get's everybody ready for the fun and sun of summertime! I played all the instruments and sang all the vocals on this one! I had a great time recording it, I even added a little Rock & Roll intro and extended the outro to get a psychedelic feel to it with sitars, incense, and some good vibes! It's a sing-a-long fluffy number with a very retro 1960's feel to it! I loved putting the video together, it was so much fun!  Check it out on YouTube, it will warm you up!

This was a bit of an experiment. The audio was recorded using an iPhone 16 and then I used the Logic Pro stem spitter to separate the vocals and guitar so I could mix each track separately.
I still intend to have one more go at recording this using a better mic set up.

  Well folks, it's that time of year again. It's time for the Eclectic Collective to take stock of the fruits of the year previous, and reflect on what making music together means to all of us. We hope you all take a chunk of time and indulge in our gift to you. We wanted to address every one of our SoundCloud friends with our voices as an intimate way to connect with each of you.
  This has become a tradition within the EC now that we've made it to our second (and a half) year of making music together. For the second time, JJ asked our friend and sometimes collaborator Jeff (Stonerjazz) to ask some interview questions of us. Then, we all came up with the answers and sent them to JJ to assemble the project.
  This mighty music machine we've created, that manages to release a new song every Friday, wouldn't mean anything if no one was listening to us. Which is why we want to extend our very sincere thanks to you for tuning in and supporting our efforts. If one other person gets joy from our music, that's such a huge accomplishment. However, it really feels like a bunch of people whom we really respect are digging what we're doing, which feels truly humbling and fulfilling. 
  With that, we hope you enjoy hearing us voice our thoughts over the highlights of our musical year as much as we enjoyed a year rich in music and comradery. Happy New Year!

Hi everybody, my name is Jim and I’m a songwriter, I've written over 300 songs, I play guitar, bass, piano, and am a pretty good lyricist.  I play all types of music and have my own recording studio.  I use no A.I. or DAW or any computers to make my songs, all the instruments are played by me live on a multitrack studio recorder and Charlie, my vocalist, sings most of my songs and also plays the Harmonica on several tracks. I'm not a pro or a great musician but I do what I can with the tools that I have! I belong to the "Keep Humans In Music Movement" (KHMM)!
