Lacemaker

Written anthem song about racial tensions.  "I've seen it before ..." refers to being so persecuted and hated as a 15 year old, so much so, that we fled the Middle East when the cultural revolution hit Iran.   Still now 45 years later in my life we are going to a referendum to enshrine a Voice into the constitution of Australia.    A decade ago I sat with a Yolnu woman,  Jalmay, who had just given a passionate speech at the Garma festival - suggesting the same idea of needing to be colourblind.   I originally wrote this song in Canada's north whilst living in a fully indigenous sovereign land amongst the Dene, Metis, Chipewyan, Cree and South Slavey First Nations peoples.  We saw each other, not our colour.   My mate David Cole delivers an impassioned message I the bridge.   Enjoy and hope we are celebrating this October 2023.
