A few hours ago, I set out on a journey to make this song sound good. Did I do it?

It seems as tough all it took was taking out the vocals, because that gets rid of the singing and lyrics at the same time. This is science, trust me.

The original is by Smash Mouth, but you probably knew that already. If you didn't, your poor innocent soul can still be saved. All jokes aside, if you don't focus too much on the lyrics, I think it's a pretty solid tune.

Created this in FamiTracker via the VCR6 module, and within the span of around 4-6 hours during school and at home instead of doing homework. Most of my other covers I've published have been of older pop songs from the 50s-90s, so it was interesting to take a shot at a more contemporary- no less really fun doing one of my favorite songs from the past year. I decided to try some new stuff with this one– particularly using custom-made DPCM samples for the "I'm the baaaaad guy... Duh!" part. I also made a bit of a bold move and decided to use the triangle section for the main melody in the chorus instead of the bass part like it's usually used for, which I think paid off surprisingly in the end. This was a fun cover to work on, and I'm proud of how clean-sounding it ultimately turned out. I know I probably think this about every latest chiptune remix I make, but I'd have to consider this my best, or at least one of my best covers I've made in the past 2 or so years.
