Adam Podell (PoDELL) is a DJ and producer from New York. Growing up as a drummer influenced by bands like Led Zeppelin and Tool, he has a keen ear and taste for unique rhythms. As an experimental bass producer, he strives for wonky rhythms which deliver a trippy, psychedelic punch. As a DJ, he takes the listener on a journey from the alien sounds of experimental dubstep to off the walls tech house and UK garage and back to hip hop inspired dubstep and drum and bass. He is all about taking you on a trip spanning many different energies and moods, but always on the wonkier side of whatever genre he’s playing. Through his career, PoDELL has played festivals such as Yonderville and Big Dub with many more on the horizon and PoDELL shows no signs of slowing down!

I like computers. They give you the opportunity to do just as if you were a whole band. Indeed Vanity & Jokes is a one-man band behind his desk. All solipsist ideas transformed into one's and zero's, and trying to make them sound like a real band (still lo-fi, but I'm working on it). Authentic & acoustic, but all digital.
Internet is also great, it allows you to act like a manager and a record company. Yes, the music is published. It's for everyone to listen to, to enjoy. The artificiality of the digital universe, actually provides the chance to make dreams seem more real.

This is what Vanity & Jokes is about. Both fake and real, insignificant and grotesque, serious and ridiculous.

He has gigged all over the UK at places like The Stand, Jongleurs, The Frog and Bucket, The Glee Club and The Comedy Store as well as being featured on the BBC, CNN, The Sun and The Mail on Sunday. A recent article about him in The Guardian said that finding humour in strange places was one of his strengths. His first comedy sketch premièred in December 2012.

He has also told jokes/given motivational speeches for a range of charities and other similar organisations including Communication Matters, Find A Voice, the Royal College of Nurses, Percy Hedley School and the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists. He is also a patron of Find A Voice and Communication Matters.
