May It All End With You

This is from 1979 and I was enthralled by Stockhausen and Herbert Eimert.  I recorded white noise onto 1/4 inch tape and cut it up into 12 lengths that made an "octave" and rearranged them into a duration set, interspersed with silences that were the inverse of the set.  I made loops out of this and played them at different speeds.  There's also a chromatic cluster of sine waves that is also looped and transposed. The piece was meant to be 12 sections with durations related to the set, of course.  But I only finished the first three!

Pierre and Frank is dedicated to two of the most original composers of the twentieth century: Pierre Boulez and Frank Zappa. Although their life trajectories were quite different, one an orchestral conductor and the other a rock musician, their paths crossed through their compositional activities. Pierre Boulez founded the French research institute IRCAM in 1977 and conducted several tracks on the Zappa album The Perfect Stranger in 1984.
Part 1 (Pierre) is a more homogenous electronic style work, which is not really an emulation of a Boulez piece, but is a nod to his use of electronics.

Part 2 (Frank) uses drums, bass, and a lead instrument in a form that begins with a solid drum back beat, then morphs into a duet between drums (percussion) and lead instruments, followed by a duet between lead and bass, before a final return to solid drum beat, bass line and lead synths.

Pierre and Frank(Part 2 Frank)

'Our Home' is a short film, a collaboration with UK artist and animator Majid Adin, famous for making the film clip for Elton John’s ‘Rocket Man’. 

This soundtrack was conceived at a time in history between devastating world events- the bushfires that ravaged Australia and the pandemic just as it was hitting our southern shores.
