Every Day The Same [Solo Piano]

I was experimenting with modal scales, in this case E phrygian. Finding it a little strange at the beginning I quickly got used to it and recognized that this is what often happens in our lives. We face situations that are unfamiliar and sometimes unwanted. But after some time we get used to them and consider them normal. It often helps to accept them and make the best of it.

For my mom who introduced me to the beauty in sounds and colours. For my father, who shaped my diverse musical tastes and pushed me into improvising. For my husband who inspired me to come back to music and keep going no matter what challenges I might face. And for my amazing children, who I love and hope to pass this tradition to...

These past months have been challenging for all. I've been into my musical cave working on my upcoming album - the most challenging album we've ever attempted to produce. Almost all the recordings are done: Hang, drums and other percussion, piano and cello, even vocal for some tracks. What is left is to finish all the vocal recordings, hopefully, next week. This album will feature Phil DiMercurio on the drums, Yamaha artist Yoed Nir on cello and Canadian singer-songwriter Alexa Ray on most of the vocals. And then it will all be mixed by Grammy-featured Matthew Shell. Such a cool lineup and we all hope that you will enjoy this album when it goes out on Halloween. The name is "Abracadabra!" and it's full of magic, enchanting spells and mysterious witchcraft. Stay tuned :)

L’ultima emozione regalata da Morricone è nelle sue ultime parole: un necrologio scritto dal compositore stesso, nei giorni difficili del ricovero al campus Bio-Medico di Roma, dopo il ricovero per la rottura del femore. Ve le riproponiamo qui, certi della loro intensità.

«Io, Ennio Morricone, sono morto. Lo annuncio così a tutti gli amici che mi sono stati sempre vicino e anche a quelli un po’ lontani, che saluto con grande affetto. Impossibile nominarli tutti.  C’è solo una ragione che mi spinge a salutare tutti così e ad avere un funerale in forma privata: non voglio disturbare.

Non voleva disturbare. Come se fosse possibile. Ennio Morricone se ne va lasciandoci con in testa quei suoi capolavori senza tempo, leggendario sottofondo di scene scolpite nella storia del cinema: da Noodles che dice di essere andato a letto presto per anni, in C’era una volta in America, all’arrivo alla stazione di Flagstone dell’ex prostituta Jill McBain, su una musica ultraterrena come Claudia Cardinale in C’era una volta il West. Da quando, poco dopo le 2 del mattino, si è sparsa la voce che il maestro non c’era più (leggi l’articolo: È morto Ennio Morricone), è stato un tributo continuo al compositore che tante volte ci ha fatto emozionare.

Every year I record a jazz version of a Christmas carol. This time it's the famous "O come all ye faithful". A simple jazz combo of piano, upright bass & drum kit are the only instrumentation needed to round this classic out & give you an alternative to all those saccharine sweet Christmas tunes playing from shopping centre loudspeakers at this time of year.
