Montréal born and raised zi! is a lifelong music lover & dancer. An avid digger, they are inspired by varying sounds and styles, adapting their craft to what their ear responds to. zi!'s work with online radio show and mix series Missed Connections allows them to further explore their diverse musical tastes by curating unique and thoughtful sets from friends around the world. With friends locally, they formed the queer DJ collective Flush, which has been organizing musically forward, community centered events for nearly 2 years. zi! is quickly becoming a mainstay in Montréal's vibrant underground scene.

"When I prepare a mix, I often pick one idea and expand on it for the whole session. This one explores a combination of bass, breaks, percussion, with elements of dub and world music. This sound just makes my body dance; it has something akin to the beats I grew up dancing to, melded with the more forward thinking production I find myself leaning into on today's dancefloors. Up next for Tapes #94 is Keplrr, the primary moniker for South London-based DJ/producer Isaac Kniveton, an artist known for his distinctive approach to music-making and unique ear for futuristic sound design.

His debut release on Control Freak in 2019 drew support from DJs such as Ben UFO, Saoirse, Minor Science and Or:la. Following this, Keplrr has taken a selective approach when releasing new music, delivering another EP for Control Freak in 2020 plus tracks on Céad, Pressure Dome & Needs. In May 2023 he will release his debut album 'Petra'.

This is the second album sampler taken from the forthcoming 'Circadian Rhythms' LP by Kolectiv, offering a glimpse of the full 18-track journey.

Conceived as more than just a collection of tunes, the record unfolds like a night at a Drum & Bass rave. It begins with the first bassline pulling you in, builds into full peak-time intensity, and closes with reflective sounds that carry you home.

Written in the wake of the pandemic, 'Circadian Rhythms' stands as both a rebirth and a tribute to the culture that shaped Kolectiv. Much of the project was created from scratch, with the duo recording live drums, keys, and guitars, then weaving them together with original sound design. Carefully selected vocal collaborations bring depth and emotion, while atmospheric interludes give the album a cinematic flow from start to finish.

Mixed down in their newly upgraded studio, the LP balances technical precision with heartfelt expression. It is a journey, a statement, and a love letter to Drum & Bass in all its shades. The full project also features standout vocal work from PAV4N, Hijak MC, Illmatika, and Kerry Donnelly.
