Sadly the second full-length record from TOLM was never finished. This track from the first album (before Josh Walden and Anthony Gravino joined the band, and while Guido Esteves was still on bass) is perfectly constructed from top to bottom. Expertly recorded by Andy Lund (who also turned in the perfect electric guitar tone and blazing solo), it's the perfect example of the sound of first-wave TOLM. Things got crazier and more interesting later, but there's nothing wrong with a great rock band with great tunes.

On the first Monday of January, 2004, Brandon T. Washington + Ian Shepherd + Andy Lund showed up to the WEFT 90.1FM studio in downtown Champaign, IL, and laid down an incredible acoustic set. At the time, Ian was prone to showing up with little-to-no percussion equipment and just improvising with what he could find on-hand, like paper clip holders and metal chairs. This night was no exception.

Several songs from the band's planned next album were performed, including this gem. The album itself was never released, as outside opportunities took band members to various points across the country beginning later that year. The album, painstakingly recorded with Adam Schmitt, sits on hard drives unfinished as of 2020. Maybe some day when someone wins the lottery we'll hear the finished product. Until then, here's an acoustic version of Joe Funderburk's favorite, "Hold Yr Fire."

Castle Finn is a freak folk band in Champaign, IL. They have Retro vibes in spades. Their culmination of zealous bass grooves, electro-pop keys, and riffy guitar motifs create a matrix that defines their psychedelic sound.

Castle Finn is led by songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Patrick Murphy whose biggest muse is the forests of his rural neighborhood, which is the namesake of the band.
