About this edit:
African music has been very inspiring to me for many years, there is something about it that I connect deeply with, I feel it in my spirit. I love to listen to it all the time, I love to learn the guitar rhythms and melodies, it gives me a lot of ideas for my music.
I came across this song recently and fell in love with the vocal and simple yet beautiful guitar melody. I felt that it had a very authentic and honest feeling. I researched the song and found out that N'Gou recorded this album in his house with his wife and daughter singing in the 1970's in Bougouni, Mali. I felt this was a beautiful vibration that I would love to share in my sets so I decided to make this edit. I hope you enjoy! About this edit :
Paul Simon has always been my favorite songwriter, and his 1990 masterwork "The Rhythm of the Saints" is probably my favorite album of all time.  Simon recorded the percussion tracks in Brazil and then wrote the songs to the rhythms--an ingenious mode of creation that resulted in an album full of gorgeous melodies that pulsates with life and unfolds in unexpected ways.  For my edit of the title track, I simplified the harmony and supplied driving afrohouse rhythms and interlocking synths to make a catchy anthem perfect for a summer beach party...

FREE DL : Paul Simon - The Rhythm Of The Saints (Yemanjo Edit)

An afternoon set at RhythmWave at Burning Man 2024. The title was "Impish Interlude Dance", where we moved with the impish spirit of this week in the desert: mischief, subversion, shapeshifting and play. Like the gargoyles which adorn the cornices of cathedrals, this spirit rides the edge between light and dark, the overworld and the underworld, and the sacred and the profane. We began with a movement exploration of lines and planes. In lines, we moved along the edges of the impeccable bamboo dance floor at RhythmWave, giving some structure and constraint to a usually freeform movement. In planes, we explored the high, medium and low levels, making for another set of creative constraints and possibilities.
