About this edit :
I'm a child of the 80 and 90's, but this particular record was one of my fathers favorite song from the 70's. So I tried to connect both musical decades, the 70'S with the 80'S. The original song evokes in me feelings of total freedom and spiritual travelling... i hope that I transpose this idea in this edit even if I pushed it in a dancefloor friendly direction as well.

Quasar  is a huge music lover, selector, crate-digger and bedroom producer living in the middle of Switzerland. Since more than 20 years he is considering himself as an enthuasiast party fraggle with a faible for open-airs. Music is his religion and his prefered medicine against or better for many things :). Some years ago, looking for modern representatives of the classic afrobeat, I found this Brazilian band that became one of my favorites of the genre: "Abayomi Afrobeat Orquesta". This version is a tribute to them and a gift for you, so that together we can enjoy a bit of their groove and vibe on the dance floor, and transmit that joy to the world.

About this edit :
Paul Simon has always been my favorite songwriter, and his 1990 masterwork "The Rhythm of the Saints" is probably my favorite album of all time.  Simon recorded the percussion tracks in Brazil and then wrote the songs to the rhythms--an ingenious mode of creation that resulted in an album full of gorgeous melodies that pulsates with life and unfolds in unexpected ways.  For my edit of the title track, I simplified the harmony and supplied driving afrohouse rhythms and interlocking synths to make a catchy anthem perfect for a summer beach party...

Today, June 24 is Saint-Jean-Baptiste day, a big celebration in the Canadian province of Quebec. It was brought to Canada by French settlers celebrating the traditional feast day of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist. Jack Essek give an hommage to St-Jean with his electronic edit  of folkolore song " Le vent nous portera " by Les Charbonniers de L'Enfer.

About Les Charbonniers de L'Enfer
The group is part of a revival in interest in Quebec's folk music.[3][4][5] It was formed by five experienced singers who have been part of the regional folk music scene for more than 30 years: Michel Faubert, Normand Miron, Jean-Claude Mirandette, Michel Bordeleau, and André Marchand. Their instrumental accompaniment is limited to the jaw harp and foot tapping. The musicians also work in other projects and the band's appearances are relatively rare.
