Blunt Objects single, released 8/26/22.  Downtown is a tribute to the wonderful staff at Elliott's in downtown Tucson --- they saw me through some tough and interesting times as I explored downtown Tucson.  Special Friends is about... well, Special Friends...

Downtown / Special Friends

I miss those good old days, 
falling in love at least three times a week
acting on impulses we never understood, 
having some fun when there was fun to be had

Pining, longing, yearning --- all synonyms for suffering
The space around a void, a place where no one goes
Don't need a wife, I've had a few, I'm done with expectations;
I just need a few good friends

So now I like to spend time with very special friends
People I can love today and not care when it ends
Someone to be my friend, and confidant
When you need a companion, I'm good for it
Go ahead, be beautiful if you must
I'll take it til I just can't take it...
I've been serious for so damn long
It's time to have some fun

There is no such thing as “future” love
Only the moment, and our memories
I hope you'll love me, if only for today
I don't want anything from you you wouldn't freely give me anyway

Someday we'll do this, someday we'll do that...
My “somedays” may soon expire...
Terrible things happen, everyday, all the time

Special Friends

After many years of having others around
No I live alone, no pets, downtown

Most days I never make a sound
Til I greet the staff at my favorite place downtown

They all turn and say “Hi Bill!” (makes me smile)
And I say Hey Hopi, Hi Gracie, Erin, Shea and Gwen!
Cayleana, Allen, Maya, Michael, Alex

What --- no Jessicas? Wasn't Jessica the new Heather?

I like that I can walk almost everywhere I need to go
I used to take the sun-link tram
To visit David at the University --- but he's not there anymore...
most folks I know these days work on either side of a bar
I like when I'm recognized as I come into the bar
