As his split album It’s counterpart (faitiche19, 2019) made abundantly clear, Jonathan Scherk is a master of his craft. Toon! immerses us in a highly distinctive world of plunderphonics-sampledelica-variations acousmatiques that’s impossible to classify while feeling familiar nonetheless. Following a strict two-minute format, thirteen complex sound constructions offer a range of experiences – as if the neurosciences had developed an acoustic formula capable of triggering illusions of memory. 13 tracks = 13 déjà-vus.

Tofudj is a Kyiv-based DJ and sound producer, one of the founders of the Pep Gaffe label. His presence was mandatory at the most important parties and festivals of Ukraine, including Схема, Kyiv's Boiler Room, Brave! Factory, Osnova and clubs such as ∄, Kultura Zvuku, and Otel', to name a few. After participating in a number of compilation albums, the artist eventually released his debut solo album Take in August 2022.

Post-Geography w/ Pablo Diserens on NTS

This piece is a hushed, spiritual lament, captured under the cold brilliance of a full moon. "Requiem Under Silver Elegy" takes the epic heart of a classic fantasy theme and filters it into pure, heartbreaking solitude of searching for that someone that you yearn, yet you has yet to know who they are.

Unlike a battle hymn, this arrangement prioritizes atmosphere and vulnerability. The piano/strings is sparing but deeply expressive, yielding the stage to lush, sweeping string sections that evoke a gentle, pervasive loneliness. The music follows the silver-haired figure on her midnight journey, where every note from the crystalline celesta marks a moment of both magical beauty and profound sorrow.

It is a requiem sung not by a choir, but by the quiet grief carried by the wind and the moon's ethereal glow.

High School Blues is the debut tape by 17 year old Russian producer Nikolay Kozlov aka ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ. Throughout the songs on the release there is a thread of generative and freeform characteristics, but the emphasis on abstraction is balanced by grounding and at times uneasy swells of emotion that shift and sink in slowly throughout the tracks. Suitable listening for a variety of headspaces and atmospheric conditions.
