"Film is forever," goes the old saying. Except that it isn't. Even 50 years ago, a huge chunk of early Hollywood movies were already gone, thanks to neglect and trashing of reels, and with each passing year, celluloid loses ground to its biggest enemy: time. 

FILM IS DEAD. LONG LIVE FILM! documents the slow fate of film and the efforts of a small-but-vital community of collectors and enthusiasts who have put in decades of effort to rescue, preserve and share as many celluloid stories as they can, whether it's 35mm and 16mm features, Super-8 home movies or rare formats. Joining us is its producer/director, Peter Flynn. 

Plus, "Screen Scene" movie reviews (all in theaters) including IF; THE STRANGERS: CHAPTER 1; BACK TO BLACK and THE GARFIELD MOVIE.

Missing is an inder whistle blower, and two Federal agents set out to learn what really happened. FORCE OF NATURE: THE DRY 2 trades its predecessor's desert heat for green mountains, but our guests, actor Eric Bana [HULK; TROY] and director/co-writer Robert Connolly are nice and cozy!

When documentarian Morgan Spurlock died last week on May 23, he left behind a body of work befitting a much longer career. He was a guest on this show four times, and we've chosen two of those conversations to share with you this week. 

From 2004: For his feature directorial debut Super Size Me, Spurlock explored the effects of an American fast food diet via an unscientific experiment using himself as a guinea pig: for 30 days, he ate nothing but McDonald's meals-- 3 per day, with limited exercise and checking in with doctors along the way. Could you predict the results? 

From 2011: POM Wonderful PRESENTS: THE GREATEST MOVIE EVER SOLD is, to quote IMDB, "a documentary about branding, advertising and product placement that is financed and made possible by brands, advertising and product placement." Employing his now-trademark satirical edge, Spurlock set out to make audiences aware of how pervasive are products in films and how insidious are the ways of advertisers.
