Why Me is the first single lifted from his debut concept EP 'States Of Being' planned for April 30th.  
"Why Me is about this feeling or state we all go through whether we care to admit it or not, its's not quite anger nor is it quite contemplation, but rather a mixture of both"

States of Being is an e.p that blurs the boundaries between jazz, hip-hop, gospel, garage and grime. The result is both expansive and intricate, scanning the vast spectrum of Black music.

Following on from the spacious, glacial electronica of previous single, Opaque Crater, 5 March 2021 sees Ritual Cloak release their latest track, White Noise. Written from the perspective of a close friend of the band before they passed away, and drawing on real-life conversations, the track marks the first introduction of lyrics and vocals (Daniel Barnett) into their sonic arsenal. Woven seamlessly into their traditionally synth-based approach, these new melodic textures work symbiotically with the track’s inherent, bittersweet gravity.

Amidst the darker weight of the subject matter and lyrics, White Noise also evokes an ever-burgeoning cocoon of light, offering some calm amidst the chaos. Initially built on the backdrop of arpeggiated synth strings and heart-wrenching vocal melodies, the track swells and evolves unexpectedly over its four minutes. This culminates in an almost triumphant progression of minimalist techno beats that boldly carves out the path forwards, only reaching its full power when each element is conjoined to the next.

The track was completed just a couple of days before the untimely death of their friend, Chris, who was its inspiration. Given he was such a big supporter of the band, it’s a massive shame he was never able to hear it. Naturally, it is dedicated to him.

White Noise will be released across digital platforms on March 5, 2021 with Divine Invasions following on 7 May, 2021.

Each track drags the listener into a little world, introducing them to a roster of pitiful characters. These no hopers have come to terms with their bad fortune and not only embrace it but flaunt it.
Celebrating the beauty and art behind the acceptance of failure in a world that champions success may seem alienating on paper but in practice draws out the ‘bread and butter boy’ in all of us.

Lewis’s music is expansive, intricate, conceptual, scanning the vast spectrum of Black music. Combined with his own cultural heritage as a native south Londoner and black British Caribbean, Lewis delivers music that blurs the boundaries between jazz, hip-hop, gospel, garage and grime and many other genres too.

He is an In-demand session musician and arranger, he is a member of many high profile groups including House Gospel Choir, MOBO award winning gospel artist Rachel Kerr , The Last Dinosaur, Boadi. Last year saw him tour with Florence + The Machine in the states and sessions including Cat Burns, Primal Scream and Waiting For Smith. 

He is currently working on his next release which will be a full album following his debut e.p States of Being which has had support from BBC Introducing Mixtape (Tom Robinson BBC Radio 6), BBC Radio London (Robert Elms Show) Worldwide FM, Soho Radio, Jazz FM, Twisted Soul to name a few.
