Lawton was said to have been wearing a white helmet and yellow raincoat at the frontlines when he was shot. As a Filipino, I am actually sad that he died while other criminal generals survived. At least Lawton had respect for his opponents. He actually praised the Filipinos' gallantry in his diary shortly before he died. At least he didn't murder Geronimo outright when caught. Coincidentally, the leader of the Tiradores de la Muerte (Marksmen of Death) was a Licerio Geronimo. This Licerio Geronimo is a traitor who turned coat to support the Americans later in the war and hunted his former Katipunan comrades. This war terribly claimed the lives of the best generals from both sides, Luna and Lawton. Also, everybody here believes Aguinaldo ordered the assassination of Luna. Aguinaldo was the Cuomo of the Philippine-American War.
