@troisquartstaxisystem is inspired by techno, jungle, bass and ambient music, and blends in his performances these influences and own productions. He is always looking to further explore and deconstruct rhythms, field-recording and textures.

This EP is the perfect introduction to his universe, swaying between sound experimentalism and club-ready techno tunes, with two additional banger remixes by Gilga, and Hupsylon.

Moscow based Ivan Karasev aka Torn inked his Samurai affiliation in 2017 with his first-ever solo vinyl release on Shiro, a sub-label for highlighting new artists. 

In the 5 years that have passed since this release, the Torn name has progressed into a widescreen sonic project leaving an indelible mark not only on DnB but also reaching into the outer edges of the underground Techno scene. 

As well as his monster debut EP (Internal - SMDE10) on the main Samurai label in 2018, Torn became one of the few artists to garner a release on Homemade Weapons' imprint Weaponry in 2019, a year which also saw him release an EP of Grey Area style Techno on Horo and a collab EP in the same style with Sam KDC and Korse as Vermisst, also on Horo. 

Since these releases, Torn has teamed up with fellow Russian artist Roho for an EP of percussive floor shakers in 2021 on Samurai Music (Fatum - SMDE19) and several self-released projects direct to his growing base of devoted Torn heads. In the background, the last few years Ivan has been diligently refining and experimenting with constructions for his debut LP for the Samurai Music label.

Borderline fulfils the promise of Ivans musical ascendancy in our sub-scene netherworld between DnB and Techno. Gut-punch kicks entwine with dense atmospheric layers, gnawing mid-riffs, and impeccably honed percussive propulsion. The cake is iced meticulously with guest collabs from Samurai Music top tier affiliates Homemade Weapons, Last Life, label head Presha and a tempo switch up to close the LP with the help of dungeon master Sam KDC and close cohort Korse.

Borderline plants a confident, empowered, flag on the electronic music landscape with Torn's name on it.

The latest excursion into deep waters from the UVB-76 Music camp comes in the form of Bristol based Tavis Hitchcock AKA Karkossyn and his Troubled Youth EP. Across six tracks Karkossyn mediates a disturbed exchange between trip hop, IDM, techno, pitched down breakbeats and guttural moans. Fully opening the next chapter from pages previously flirted with by UVB-76 Music label mates.

The stars aligned to bring another of our all-time favourite producers, and indeed one of the most important musical figures from the Techno sphere to the 170/85 BPM tempo when Reeko sent us a demo late last year. All four tracks perfectly create a fully formed and distinctive stylistic adaptation and were signed instantly. If we imagined what Reeko would sound like at this tempo, we couldn’t have envisioned a better reality.

These four tracks make up ‘Confront The Serpent’ - an ode to the machinations of an Ayahuasca ceremony and its resulting journey of discovery. The Serpent symbolises our shadows and the importance of facing them.

A hazy psychedelic aura floats across these tracks, binding them together, while the kicks possess the perfect frequencies you would expect from such a renowned kick-drum scientist. Percussive and ambient elements for each track create flawless contrasts and shade, while Reeko's subtle low-end work proves the deadly ingredient to send the tracks into a delicious level of hypnotism. 'Smile At Reptile' is especially notable for its deftly reworked, cascading breakbeat and inventive kick/break combo.

A potent new force has arrived at this tempo and we are honoured to be the label that presents the first fruits of this new perspective to the world.

London-based DJ and producer Rommek releases on 47, showcasing his signature brand of seething, fragmented techno in this formidable label debut.

"Arkho" opens the EP with rolling drums before a heavily distorted synth line pierces the atmosphere, evoking tension and unease before launching into a furious lead. On "Silverlock," broken drums skitter across a droning soundscape, while a glitched-out melody adds a dark tint. "Decipher" squirms with a similarly syncopated rhythm and ice cold textures, topped with crisp hi-hats. Closing track "Synthetic Dream" is threatening but never overly dark, stitching weighty drums between tactile, warped-out synth notes. A chilling cut that conveys Rommek's shadowy aesthetic all the way through.

Shiro is the Samurai Music offshoot created specifically for emerging artists first solo release on vinyl. 

Torn is a new face to the Samurai camp and our first signing from Russia. A St Petersburg native, Torn has been developing over recent years into one of the most interesting producers in the half step community with his tracks featuring heavily in the sets of many of the scenes most prominent DJ’s including Presha, Loxy, & Clarity. 

The Grethen EP is a gateway to the Torn sound. ‘Stagnation’ is the most traditional Drum and Bass of the EP with it’s bouncing, grunting lurch. ’Grethen’ goes down low and deep, while ‘Self Reflection’ is the tune bound to populate many DJ sets with it’s tribal percussion. ‘Insomnia’ ups the intensity with frantic, restless energy to close the EP. Coventry’s second son of Drum & Bass returns to UVB-76 Music for his first release on the label since 2017’s ‘Pathos’ EP. Two years on, and four tracks strong, ‘The Last Men’ EP delves into the darker caverns of modern jungle, tethering howling pad works to a sturdy hull of abrasive percussive rhythms.

Coarse high end peaks are trussed against bottom end vibrations which are fixated to the ground as three tracks are firmly rooted in the dance while a fourth track is the fallout at trip hop tempo.

Releasing music since 2009 as Sam KDC, British artist Samuel Wood has grown into one of electronic music's most passionate developers of the outer edge. In recent years, Sam has been an integral part of the Grey Area label and sound, a creative musical pathway that ties a musical bridge between 85 and 128 bpm with crafty polyrhythms. As further evidence of his versatility, his debut LP 'Late Night Innominate' Vol 1 (2015 - Auxiliary) was an entirely ambient long player which found favour across the electronic music world for its emotive power.

Omen Rising, Sam’s debut LP for Horo is also his first full length record to focus entirely on beat driven work. The album further incorporates the occult themes Sam has been using as pervading signifiers since his 2014 EP ‘The Order and the Entity’. Musically, Omen Rising sees the Grey Area sound re built into a hurtling fireball of energy stretching the constraints of what we know as Techno until the straps are blown off. 

Omen Rising is a confident showcase from an artist who has found a defining sound and is revelling in his ability to develop it entirely out on his own.
