A beautiful planet that once sat like an oasis of color in the ultimate blackness of space is now fading away with it’s dying sun. After all the planets fossil fuels were exhausted, scientists found a way to utilize the planets water sources for energy. Within a few centuries all the oceans were drained, leaving the world dried up and out of balance.

In place of the oceans lie gigantic multiplex cities also known as Ridge Cities. The different Ridge Cities were connected to one each other via magnetic highways. When the oceans were first harnessed for fuel, the rich and elite who owned the land were able to power their spacecraft to distant more resource rich planets by selling the land and buying fuel to get to the closest star outside of the milky way.

Those left behind became landowners and small time con-men living lavishly for a few lifetimes. Controlling the water and the land that produced the water meant controlling the fuels supply and with it, the ONLY way OFF the Earth. It wasn’t before long that the businessman turned ruthless gangsters controlling all of the black-markets on the planet.

Because of over-crowding on the new planets, socio-engineers determined in order to maximize the life giving resources they would have to only take the best of the best from Earth, and encapsulate those still left on earth. Escape was outlawed. The Earth was surrounded and fortified by scanning drones and battleships. Escaped seemed fairly impossible. The only way off the planet for the non-elite was through the black market.

Chemicals consumed most of those left on Earth. Their diet, their brains, the way they interact with the world. A merging of technology, science and alchemy. There had been tales of a chosen one who had been prophesied to deliver the people from tyranny. The chosen one is a creature of the nightlife, and the under- belly of society; yet he will seem more pure and innocent than the rest he’s surrounded by.
Soon the chosen one will reveal to the people that the way off planet isn’t outward, but inward. It is prophesied that the center of the planet holds a metaphysical worm hole that will transport the remaining inhabitants to a land free from of tyranny on the other side of the known universe. A way out. A Utopian Star.
THE ANARCHOSTAR.

The Titans were a group from Austin, TX active from 1982-1992 and were formed by brothers Ken, Daniel, and Marc Geraci. Ken played guitar, sang and wrote most of the earlier material. Daniel played bass and developed his own songwriting style in the band's later years. 

Youngest brother Marc, was recruited to play the drums at age 12 in 1982 and was just learning to play through the band's earliest material.

The band was heavily influenced by the 1960's British Invasion groups with a dash of 80's heavy metal. The local Punk/New Wave scene of the early 1980's was a heavy influence on Ken Geraci's songwriting and much of the band's early material is a reflection of this.

The band would see many lead singers come and go, but Steve Snyder and Glen Barnes contributed most of the lead vocals along with brothers Ken and Daniel Geraci on the tracks. Lead singers Omar Madani and Scott Linhardt sang for the band during the band's cover band days of the early 1990's. Singer and rhythm guitarist Mike Deleon and keyboardists Brent Preece and Arnaud Robin also had brief stints in the band during the 80's and early 90's.

The production quality and musicianship on most of the tracks are quite raw and spotty but gives an honest representation of the band's somewhat unique songwriting abilities and fun spirit. Studio time was outrageously expensive during the 1980's. Unfortunately, some of the band's best material was never properly recorded or not recorded at all. If only we had today's do-it-yourself technology and "auto-correct everything" back then.

The band Restless Native was formed in 1993-1994 and featured the three Geraci brothers (formally of The Titans) with Daniel Geraci and David Pearson writing the bulk of the material. Marc Geraci on drums, Daniel Geraci on bass, Ken Geraci on lead and rhythm guitar, and an outstanding, German immigrant guitarist Vana Hertz.

The Geraci brothers still would bring their Beatle influenced melodic harmonies to the mix, but alternative rock and funk influences were also shaping the band's music.

The Midnight Sons 1994-1996 was again the Geraci brothers with Ken, Daniel, and Marc Geraci along with former lead singer of The Next, Ty Gavin.  Alin Black formely of Sharon Tate's Baby, also would later join the band and supply rhythm and lead guitars alternating with Ken Geraci.  The material was mostly written by Ken and Daniel Geraci, with a few old tunes by Alin Black and Ty Gavin thrown into the mix. Marc Geraci played drums, and Daniel Geraci on the bass.

The Geraci brothers would soon call it a day in 1996. Marc Geraci was only 26 years of age in '96 and would go on to play with the band Stones Throw of Austin,TX. Marc joined Stones Throw in 1998-2003. Some of the standout tracks from that band are featured on my playlist. 

Electrogecko (a.k.a. Didi Mudigdo) has performed in Australia (Sydney, Cairns), New Zealand (Queenstown), Japan (Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya), China (Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Changsha), Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) and Indonesia (Jakarta, Bandung).
He has co-composed works on CD albums released by TJ Eckleberg, Weizen Ho and Debra Blaquiere.

1985: First contact with a synthesizer, a Roland Juno 106, at a Tokyo department store, during a family vacation.
1988: First multi-track synthesizer compositions, using a Yamaha DX21, two-cassette tapes, a tape dubbing machine, and multiple bouncing.
1989: First MIDI compositions using an Atari 520 ST running Steinberg Pro 24 III through a Roland MT32 and a Roland RD300s.
1990 - 2002: Gave up electronic music, focussed on acoustic piano.
2003: Purchased a MicroKorg synthesizer and Boss SP303 sampler from Tokyo. Recorded several live performance tracks to a MiniDisc recorder.
2004 - 2007: Gave up electronic music again. Loaned out the MicroKorg to Black Sesame. Sold SP303 on Ebay (much to Black Sesame's disappointment).

Massive Ego formed in 1996 with original members Marc Massive and Andy JT. Marc ex model and dancer for Boy George’s 90’s Jesus Loves You band, DJ and art event curator has fronted the band from the beginning. The band were originally at the centre of the short lived new romantic revival scene in London called ‘Romo‘ which culminated in a glowing half page live review by journalist Simon Price in UK music mag Melody Maker.
Over the years, with many line-up changes Massive Ego have played the length and breadth of the UK at clubs and festivals including shows at London’s Finsbury Park and Trafalgar Square and in Europe. The band have seen several single and album releases in the UK (Klone / Public Disordar Recs) Germany (ZYX) as well as releases in the USA (Ninthwave Recs), Belgium (Black Leather Recs), Japan (Avex Trax) and Australia (Pro-DJ). Massive Ego tracks have featured on well over 40 compilation albums from the labels above.
Originally known for their new wave pop sound, all that changed in 2013 when Marc Massive became more interested in the darker ebm/industrial/goth scene and from this point all new material reflected this change.
Early 2013 saw Marc supply lyrics and vocals on a track called Dead Silence by Lia Organa & Electric Prince and was released through Belgian label Black Leather Records with a brilliant video by Polish film makers/artists Suka Off and a remix package including The Horrorist and People Theatre. This single was followed up by the Low Life EP with Empire State Human.
2014 and work started on a new EP called Noise In The Machine, with remixer and producer Lloyd Price involved in production. With the track’s completed Marc secured a remix from Daniel Graves (Aesthetic Perfection) and sent the EP off to a couple of labels. 2015 saw it released on Out Of Line music with lead song I Idolize You also featuring on their hugely successful Electrostorm CD compilation Vol 6.
The EP has had great reviews from the likes of Side-Line Magazine, Brutal Resonance and Storming The Base websites. The EP entered the Deutsche Alternative Chart (DAC) at #10 and the German Electronic World Chart (GEWC) at #13.
A track called Low Life (Zarkoff Remix) was featured on a new vinyl release called Synth Wave Vol 1 released in May on new label Electro London Records. a new track called Out Of Line featured on Electronic Saviors Vol 4 released on Metropolis Recs.
2016 they celebrated their 20th anniversary with live dates at Infest UK, supported Blutengel at Das Open Air Concert in Chemnitz and Out Of Line Weekender in Berlin. The band also recently remixed Blutengel, OST+Front, and CHROM. 2017 saw the band release their long awaited album Beautiful Suicide on Out Of Line Music and toured with Blutengel on their Leitbild Tour and performed at Wave Goth Treffen, Amphi Festival & Whitby Goth Weekend.

Colorado electronic producer and singer Tommy Metz, "one of Denver’s most prolific artists" (Westword), has performed alongside many international acts including Phantogram, Max Tundra, Ulrich Schnauss, Black Moth Super Rainbow, Starfucker and Nathaniel Rateliff. NPR: A Hollywood Writer's Second Act: Gongs

There's a Mystery Machine sitting outside Andrew Borakove's nondescript warehouse on a quiet street in Lincoln, Neb.

"I can never be depressed driving around town, because there's always some 4-year-old waving to me manically," Borakove says.

The mystery about the Scooby Doo replica van starts to fade, however, once you notice the bumper stickers on the back. Black background, white font, like a "Got Milk?" ad: "Happiness Is a Warm Gong." "Gongs, Not Bongs." "My Child Is an Honor Gong Player."

The van doesn't just amplify Borakove's personality — which probably doesn't need much help — it's the cargo van for his Internet business, . He bought the van off eBay five years ago to move his business and his family from California to Nebraska.

That journey is a story of American optimism and reinvention in an economy that increasingly demands mid-life career shifts. It's a story Borakove hopes will, ahem, resonate.

Life In 'Development Hell'

For 20 years, Borakove, a native of New York, worked long hours in the pressure cooker of L.A. TV-writing. He'd moved there in 1986 and found success writing for shows like South Park and Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

But after several years working to create shows that never made it on television — languishing in "development hell" he calls it — the jobs began to dry up. What work did come along paid less and less.

"I was kind of like, 'I don't know what we're going to do,'" he says.

It was 2005. Borakove had a second child on the way. He imagined a future where he could support his family selling things online, but he had no idea what to sell. He was not a percussionist or musician.

Ever the comedy fan, Borakove compares his plight to the Jim Carrey film Bruce Almighty. In one scene, Carrey's character, desperate and confused, throws himself in front of a moving truck.

"One day, I was like, 'God, I don't know what the heck I'm going to do. I'm literally on my hands and knees' — in the same position that Jim Carrey was," he says.

"And then, like a day or so after that, I was meditating, and this image of a gong appeared in front of me." He pauses. "I mean, not to get too mystical — that's why I was mixing it with the comedy there."

Nebraska Bound

But Borakove was serious about the gong business. He did some research and found that people were searching for gongs online, but there weren't many places to buy them. It's not like you could walk into Target and buy a gong, he says.

So he moved his family from Los Angeles to San Diego and set up shop. Immediately, his new business began to grow. Soon, Borakove was working 10 hours a day, running his website from a Starbucks and spending $800 a month on storage units for his gong supply.

"I'm going, 'I'm not getting a chance to surf. I'm barely getting out in the sun. And my kids are getting bigger,'" he says. "And then, all of a sudden, I started having odd dreams to get out of California."

College town in the Midwest, he thought. "That was my gut feeling."

Madison, Wis.? Too cold. Lawrence, Kan.? "Meh. No," he says. His wife had lived near Omaha, Neb., so they settled on Lincoln, a smaller town about an hour away.

"The surfers in San Diego were, like, 'Where is that?'" he says. "They were scratching their heads a little bit."

'That's Heavy Metal'

The day Borakove moved to Nebraska was the first time he'd set foot in the state. "My wife had gone and bought the house," he says. "I had never been here before."

He — and the Mystery Machine — quickly settled in.

"People got used to me," he says. He made friends with a local barista who became his connection to the "Lincoln hipster community." The 20somethings were drawn to the store, hanging out and even helping with the shop.

These days, the store has never been busier. Business is growing, and it's not just yoga studios lining up.

"Everyone buys my gongs," he says. "[New Jersey Gov.] Chris Christie's brother. Someone bought a gong to give to [director] James Cameron. I sold one to a death rocker, who was like, 'I NEED IT TO BE VERY DARK.' I've sold a gong that went to a prison. It was a minimum security prison in Minnesota. They put on a talent show. They needed the gong."

He ships gongs all around the world. Kuala Lumpur. Dubai. Why wouldn't those customers just buy gongs made in Asia?

"Because they want the BMW of gongs," Borakove says, made by a Swiss company called Paiste. "But I've shipped Chinese gongs back to Hong Kong several times. And I love it."

Small gongs are popular for workplaces and corporate events, big gongs for symphonies and musical acts. He sells gong stands, too, including ones made by the "almost-father-in-law" of Lady Gaga (In her hit single, "You And I," Gaga sings about a long-lost lover from Nebraska. The namesake man's father has been building gongs and stands for Borakove for several years. "I call him Papa Gaga," he says.)

"Is it ever going to make me rich?" Borakove asks. "No. But I sold $450,000 worth of gongs last year. That's heavy metal."

And it's a story that may inspire other midlife career-changers. "Be entrepreneurial. Be creative," Borakove says. "You gotta find that side in you. And c'mon. We're selling gongs. We're having a good time. There's gotta be some goofiness to it all."
