TNA Springs Into Action

"So I started an inter-gender wrestling promotion with Mad Man Pondo . . .". Pat Lucey, Co Owner of Gender Wars, is the guest on this week's Truepenny Show and to celebrate Gender War's debut card on the 12th of April, he joined James to discuss inter-gender wrestling, its politics and presentation and how he got into being a promoter.

James is joined by Chelsea Spollen, Alex Edwards and Alex Watt to review New Japan's biggest show of the last decade; Wrestle Kingdom 12. There is plenty for everyone to get their teeth into this week as New Japan's annual visit to The Tokyo Dome offers up dream matches like Tetsuya Naito vs Kazuchika Okada for the IWGP Heavyweight Title, Chris Jericho making his shocking return to the company after 16 years to face Kenny Omega for the IWGP US Heavyweight Title and "Switchblade" Jay White challenging the living legend Hiroshi Tanahashi for the IWGP Intercontinental Title. British interest was strongly served with Marty Scurll defending the IWGP Junior Heavyweight title against Hiromu Takahashi, KUSHIDA and Will Osperay.  Minoru Suzuki put his hair and NEVER Openweight Title on the line against former Champion Hirooki Goto. The Killer Elite Squad defend their IWGP Tag Team Titles against The Tag League Winners Evil and Sanada. In A breathtaking singles bout Cody takes on Kota Ibushi. With a round up of the New Year's Dash event and the follow press conferences that lead us to New Beginnings, its a packed card and packed show!

Wrestle Kingdom 12 Review

James is joined by the Alexs Watt and Edwards, to discuss the upcoming New Beginnings Tour for New Japan Pro Wrestling. While they are a wee bit late to the party, they do lay out the possible scenarios and long term story arcs of what could happen and how it will shape 2018.

NJPW New Beginnings Preview 2018

James Truepenny is joined by Marcus Green of total Wrestling Magazine and Alex Watt to discuss Golden Week and NJPW's offering to the national celebration; Pro Wrestling Dontaku. Two shows that celebrated five years of Bullet Club and juxtaposed that against Kazuchika Okada's impervious reign.

The Golden Lovers took on Team Cody in the main events of night one; Kota Ibushi took on Cody in a rematch fro Wrestle Queendom and Hangman Page took on Kenny Omega. On night two Will Osperay defends the IWGP Junior Heavyweight title against perennial contender KUSHIDA. Finally Kazuchika Okada faces up to his long time rival Hiroshi Tanahashi to stake his claim as the greatest IWGP Champion of all time and defend it for 12 times in one reign and take the record held by Tanahashi.

It is a barn burner.

NJPW Pro Wrestling Dontaku

New Japan took their annual celebration of all things Junior Heavyweight to new heights this year and held their final at Korakuen Hall. A full card of action that also teased this weekend's Dominion card was to be had topped of by a final between the new Bone Soldier Taiji Ishimori of Bullet Club vs Los Ignorables de Japaon's resident sociopath Hiromu Takahashi. James is joined by Simon Heath to run down all the matches on offer.

Best of Super Juniors

James is joined by Alex Watt and Marcus Green of Total Wrestling Magazine to review Dominion from NJPW. 

With hardly anything announced a month ago, this looked like it was going to be just another show. Then Naito was attacked by Chris Jericho, and The Rainmaker called out Omega for his 13th IWGP title defense, and Hiromu Takahashi won the Best of Super Juniors and everything came up roses on a card that was damn near perfect.

To add to the title picture The Young Bucks challenged current IWGP Heavyweight tag Team Champions SANADA and Evil of LIJ. Junior Tag tearaways Roppingi 3K tried once again to regain their IWGP Jnr. heavyweight titles.

Five shows that try and give well rounded discussion to everything in wrestling around the world.

The latest show in the Truepenny Show family is All About All Japan as Christy invites guests to discuss Japan's legendary promotion and its rising stars in her own unique way. Featuring guests from across the wrestling commemorate.

The Wrestling Rewind is hosted by Darragh O’Connor and Dave Stephens as they take an in-depth look at the stories in North American pro wrestling from the previous week. They look at WWE, Impact Wrestling, Ring of Honor with a wry sense of humour but go deep on the issues facing the industry in North America.
