named after a haunting song by the late, great townes van zandt, waiting around to die  (aka wa2d) formed in the early months of 2010.  they began as a quartet and  recorded a 9 song demo album called "the valley of the new year," and then an 8 song album called "lost in the lonely crowd," which was produced, recorded and mixed by marvin dominguez during the summer of 2011..  just after the completion of the debut album, wa2d became a duo and their sound altered somewhat dramatically..  in october of 2011 they began working on their sophomore album, "hated in the house of lies."  all of the songs on the record were recorded in the band's practice space, and almost exactly a year later the lp was complete.  the band are very proud of the result and made a home-made video for each song on the album, all of which can be viewed on wa2d's facebook page.

Where almost 90% of hiss classmates were listening Top40 charts with Wessel van Diepen he was speeding up his bike to prepare the tapes for new recordings.After diner impatient waiting till 23.00 when that chemical fullfilled music would take him on this extroardinary trips to the moon and back and all in between.
 
Half a decade later and the techno addict woke up. Celebrating this wellknown virus with his fellows @  N1, Green & Blue, Mayday, Timewarp, Awakenings, Free Your Mind, SonneMondSterne and his favourite clubnight 'Planet Rose' at his hometown Nijmegen.

"A smile is the answer"

The sounDEFfort project was inspired by a house warming party I organised and played at last year.

I came away from the experience wanting to record a really special mix, an all time top 100 tunes of my lifetime. 

I first put together a mash up concept, thrashing out 100 tracks in one big 100 minute mix. This was novel and produced some nice results, but didn't achieve what I set out to achieve.

I had to alter my selection and change how I was going to present my top 100 tunes. I focussed on delivering the tracks I really love in the best way possible.

This took a long time, and involved a lot of research and remix hunting. I also did a lot of reworkings and splicing.

Once I had put together my shortlist of 120 tracks or so, I started building my sets, eliminating certain tracks and discovering best ways to mix them all. 

My final sounDEFfort project consists of 8 different mixes.

Each mixes is roughly 50 - 60 minutes long.
I had a lot of fun making the project and am happy that I have finally recorded my ultimate top 100 into mixes that I will no doubt play again and again.

Jaysenn Grand started out in the smoky rooms and bars in Central Pennsylvania in 1974 or thereabouts as our personalities staggered into one another. Details remain sketchy, and nobody is admitting to anything. They crossed state lines, some will deny, and will remain silent until the statue of limitations expire.
The boys dodged many a angry husband, armed woman and drunk to remain as the backdrop soundtrack for a generation that stumbled across them.
They all remain alive and kicking in witness protection. But if there are no witnesses...

The calling of doom metal is not for those who seek an easy path to glory. For those drawn to its flame, it is the awakening of Black Sabbath’s dark spirit through the music that is its own rich reward. And for those elites who truly walk the path of doom, it is a journey without end, a pilgrimage that eventually becomes part of the traveller’s very bones and being.

For Hampshire doom metal maniacs Witchsorrow, it has become a life’s work. Formed by frontman Necroskull and bassist Emily Witch over a decade ago (later completed by drummer Wilbrahammer), and with a mission to celebrate the traditions of doom as practiced by such puritans as Black Sabbath, Cathedral, Saint Vitus, Trouble and Candlemass, across three albums their hymns to the void have earned them a place among the genre’s elite. Obsessed with doom, proudly upholding the heavy metal roots of the genre, and with a lyrical outlook that takes in madness, misanthropy, witchcraft, evil, and no less a topic than the destruction of the Earth itself, the trio are as much about the worship of doom as they are pouring scorn on a world of And as the world continues to live in ever-more interesting times, a new collection of hymns emerges. Those familiar with the history of witch trials will already know of the Malleus Maleficarum, the dreaded book by fifteenth-century Catholic clergyman Henricus Institoris that detailed and endorsed the torture and extermination of witches by violent means. But, like the album, it also went by another name: Hexenhammer.

Written during a hermetic period following an intense run of live shows, and recorded at Skyhammer studio with long-time co-conspirator Chris Fielding (Conan, Primordial, Electric Wizard), the songs find Witchsorrow continuing to explore the dark corners of doom, and illuminate them with the blinding light of sheer heavy metal forged of the strongest steel. It’s an almost anthemic soundtrack to the end of the world lyrics. “I’ve always been obsessed with the end of the world,” explains Necroskull. “On previous albums I’ve been wanting it to happen, because I was caught in a very dark place. On No Light..., I was almost angry that it hadn’t happened. This time, it’s a massively confusing time where we’re basically staring at it and waiting for it. I have no solutions. There are none to be had.”

If 2018 needs a soundtrack to its madness, Witchsorrow have provided it. Heavier, darker, doomier, and more metal than ever before, one of doom’s leading lights have made the perfect album for our times. Beware the Hexenhammer.

Born out of frustration and disgust with the current political, economic and social climate, Piss N’ Blood was formed in August 2007 by former Lost Cause vocalist Ron Anger (the Lost Cause album Forgotten Corners was the first Punk Rock record ever distributed by MCA Records), and lead guitar player Cameron Mosavian. The band also features the ferocious and solid rhythm section of drummer Parker Johnston and bass player Mike Betancourt (both former members of The Politicians). Anger and Mosavian met after Anger placed an ad looking for musicians to start a new band. Anger christened the band Piss N' Blood after watching a World War I documentary on television. A veteran being interviewed about the war said that the soldiers in the trenches were up to their ankles in "piss and blood.” The statement stuck with Anger and he knew he had the name of the band. Anger & Mosavian built a rehearsal studio and worked on writing new songs throughout 2008.

As Piss N' Blood started to gig, live show reviews followed like the review in SLAM! from Marcus Solomon; “These four steady rockers from Orange, CA must have been baptized in unholy water blessed by the notorious Johnny Rotten himself. If the U.S. had created the Sex Pistols first it would have sounded like this; pissed-off, anthemic, and scathingly socially-critical. Everything this band does is truly solid, heavy, and infectious.” Piss N’ Blood has also been compared to the Dead Boys, New York Dolls, and The Stooges. The band has shared the stage with such acts as The Casualties, The Business, Agent Orange, The Dickies, C.J. Ramone, Reagan Youth, Duane Peters, Angry Samoans, D.I., Guttermouth, Channel 3, Chuck Dukowski (Black Flag), Ron Emory (T.S.O.L.), Rikk Agnew (Adolescents), Bermondsey Joyriders, and many more.

Piss N’ Blood released the song Treason as their first single in May 2009 with 24 Hour Machine as the B-side track. The single was well received almost over night with an outstanding review from SugarBuzz Magazine editor Lucky, who called it an "Ace back to back smack in the mouth.” The song Old Boring Rebels which was recorded during the Treason single sessions would later show up on the Gasoline Records compilation The Sounds of Gasoline (Vol. 5) in 2011. Piss N’ Blood’s first full length album F.T.W. was released by the band in November 2011. The album was engineered by Jeff Moleski (Smashing Pumpkins, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Hole, Motorhead, etc.) and mastered by Howie Weinberg (Nirvana, The Clash, Ramones, Rancid, etc.) Excellent reviews immediately followed. Maximun RockNRoll stated that the album was “done perfectly!” and that the band had “obviously put in the time to be this good!” Ginger Coyote from Punk Globe called Piss N’ Blood “a tight action packed band” and wrote; “the guys deserve all the accolades they are receiving.”

Piss N' Blood has set out to make a reputation for themselves as the most venomous Rock 'n' Roll band in the world. Every time Ron Anger opens his mouth is proof of that as seen in previous interviews with magazines such as TapouT, Punk Globe, SugarBuzz, Skratch Magazine, and numerous radio interviews. Or just read the lyrics! With nihilist charm the band takes great pride in calling themselves the most relevant and important band in existence. Piss N' Blood is just waiting for everyone else to catch up. Called “charismatic” by their peers, Piss N’ Blood have just begun to conquer/destroy the music landscape that exists today.

I don't know what I love more:  music or my cat.  They both make me laugh, cry, angry, confused, possessed, erotic, annoyed, relaxed, and do it all at the same time.  But both of them are waiting for me when I come through the door.  Think I can control music a little better than my cat though.
