Stillness Studio

A lockdown measures finitude, shade tolerance. Like deciduous trees we bend, leaves upon the river. Tedium & anguish cement the ground building solidarity. Andrà tutto bene, they stick it on walls while streets familiarise with stillness. Stay put, for anomalies are schizoid, internally disjointed.
The risk, the perception of it, Gaussian figures, contain, delay, collective responsibility. An equaliser, they say, we’re all enrolled, sorted in descending order.

Science. What does it mean guided by science? Is intensive care a fact? The utmost care. Fatality is the wrong yardstick. What a solace to share the same vision, herd immunity. Herd immunity.

Ultimately, where is love? Love in the time of the outbreak.

An extract on a performance of Benjamin Britton's Simple Symphony Op.4, performed live by The Birmingham Conservatoire String Orchestra in St Paul's Cathedral. This piece was originally recorded and produced in 5.1 surround sound and this is a stereo version.

Every element in this song is made from three samples of ice cubes in a glass that I recorded on my phone. I put the samples in Ableton and with Simpler and sound design editing (Effects, panning, sample manipulation etc.) I created around 10 drum elements and 3 melodic elements from these samples. Plus I spread the raw samples into the track, with very light pan editing. I put the rhythms down quite quickly, because I wanted to make this track as fast as possible. Hope you enjoy!

This week on the Electronic Wireless Show podcast, we buy in to that corporate lifestyle by talking about our favourite fictional brands in video games. We talk about some absolute classics. Mmm, why I could go for a delicious glass of Nuka Cola right now!

We have plenty of digressions this week as well, including a big thing about the whole beans on Weetabix thing, and giving Matthew a roasting because he says he doesn't like food that "glistens". Absolute nonsense.
