The battle is over. Few are left standing, but humanity has won. The young man is mortally injured. In his final moments, the young man can't help but feel melancholy. He wishes he could reverse time to stop himself from ever entering Omega City, but the past is the past. Letting go, he hopes future generations will learn from his mistakes and live for themselves, making the world a better place.

Episode 2: Thy Rod and thy Staff they Comfort Me

This is my first audio diary, culled from sources I was delighted to find on hand when I heard about this wonderful project. Pulling together this clip occasioned the 2020 reflecting and tying up that I'd been grasping after!

I'm amazed at how my recordings from January and February seem to reflect a different epoch of civilization. Also, at how vividly the clips of early morning birdsong and summer storms recalled my early months of the pandemic — my claustrophobia, isolation, and pronounced desire to open up the apartment and let the outside in.

I been doing these New Year Ice challenges for a few years and I suppose each year is a snapshot of whatever I was using at the time. This year, what with the Covid buggeration, meant I spent a lot of time building diy synths and modules.  I most recently built a Plinky synth, a simply lovely polyphonic digital synth and sampler. I fed it the original loop I used for the challenge in 2013 and used its outputs to trigger a DFAM and modulate fx. The decayed sax sound is the plinky oscillators fed through Monsoon
