After a revitalizing summer break i finished one of the tracks that i was planning to do so. This is my first attempt on an arrangement that has exclusively the orchestral element with many melodies and instruments played simultaneously giving that classical feel. An old track of ours remixed, remastered, to take advantage of some knowledge I have acquired over the last few years. Also replayed the piano and added a few things to make the line a little more interesting. Lastly, I changed some bass notes in the hope of pulling it all together better. Special thanks to John-Marc Ventimiglia @john-marc-ventimiglia for creating the “gliss” program that is used to create the outline of the hourglass shape and short glisses in this piece.

The James Webb Space Telescope  spotted a blazing cosmic hourglass filled with vibrant colors and hiding a fledgling star, or protostar, at its heart. The blazing formation within the Taurus star-forming region and the protostar within it has been hidden to telescopes by a dense, dark cloud of gas and dust.

The protostar the image centers around is hidden from view in the neck of a dark, hourglass-shape cloud of gas and dust. The dark line across the middle of the neck is a protoplanetary disc — dense gas and dust that could form a planet in the future — about the size of our solar system.

'Flight of the Spaceship' is one of my first songs I've made on the computer. This one, however, is my modern recreation of the old melodies in that composition that I still remember (although the original composition has been lost to time, I'd say it was around 2005 that I made that one). Hope you enjoy! Art made in Canva using free resources and clip art. I used a combination of the Roland Gaia SH-01, and synths available in the apps called Figure, Reason Compact, and the lmms DAW.

RBMA alum Distal returns with the latest manifestation of his Anarchostar project - an ambitious multimedia undertaking that combines music, videos, animations, illustrations and graphic novel storytelling. In Chapter 4, which encompasses Distal’s ‘Psychomagic’ EP, the Anarchostar goes full-on dystopian as “the most corruptible, vile and nihilistic groups left on the planet” seize control of all the land and resources. The EP’s opening track, “Psychomagic In An Adobe Home”, however strikes a more buoyant note, as expansive synth chords coalesce with vigorous vocal chops and hyper-charged drum sequences.

Glasgows own Petrichor makes a more than welcome return to his home label with the beautifully crafted Cloud Chamber EP. After a series of well received singles and a stunning debut album under his belt at Soma, Petrichor cemented his name within the labels ranks with his profound and delicate production style. This newest EP continues to see the talented producer go beyond the norm in his approach to his music. 

Title track Cloud Chamber opens the EP in a typically stylistic way. Petrichors clean, grooving drum patterns are joined by ethereal pads that sweep effortlessly into existence, each layer adding is own particular nuance to the track all designed to deliver a unique emotive piece. Keeping the organic, beat driven feel, Rah-Koh delves even deeper. Animated percussive elements provide a background for yet more stirring synth work from Petrichor who uses spacial, dubbed out sections creating a subtle and mesmerising track. Completing the EP, Petrichor reworks the previous track creating Koh-Rah a perfect trip into the ambient stratosphere where he creates an evolving and modulating soundscape built around glistening pads and processed sound fields. 

The wait may have been a long one but the final product from Petrichor is always worth it.

A recording of Cadet Ramshackle's came unexpectedly into the possession of our dessert chef, Luftenant Grangier of Marla Maples, whilst he was cleaning the cabbage farmed from Jipplestock Realm in Warezz Place. We submit this song for your precision analysis. Help us determine the source of poor Ramshackle's malaise.

This started when I was messing around with some softsynth VST's I hadn't used before and landed upon a sound I liked using one called Prodigious Synth.  I laid down a bit of an upward melodic progression with the pianoroll and that became the basis for the song.

Somewhere along the way I threw in some radio clips from the Apollo program and kept tinkering with it the last few weeks until it has become a sort of series of set pieces hinging around the same melodic cues.
