Ask the members of Borokov Borokov to say something about their new album De Verkeerde Fout (The Wrong Mistake), and they will answer you that it is the best record they have ever made. And then something about sliced white bread or dry shampoo. No, you don't get much wiser when the trio has to interpret or analyze themselves and their unconventional, asymmetrically bouncing synthpop. 

Two years after their album with the significant title Enkel Duetten (Only Duets), Arne Omloop, Boris Van den Eynden, and Noah Melis have again invited a motley collection of guests. Besides Dutch, you can now also hear Japanese, Slavic pronunciations, English words, and Dutch dialects – wriggled between the beats and melodies. Maybe these participants do have something (un)sensible to say about De Verkeerde Fout and BB's freaky universe?

My assignment was simple', guitarist Elko Blijweert says about his contribution to De Grauwe Panter. It could be anything. Since that song was first called Hotel Restaurant Cafe - a much better title - I played as if people were eating and drinking at the same time. And afterwards it turned out there was someone else playing on that track, a certain Lotte Vanhamel. I didn't know anything about that, but actually I wasn't surprised. Incredibly predictable unpredictable, that's what these guys are like'. 

'Oy, what's this?' is how Koen Van Bommel of Amsterdam duo De Witte Kunst summarizes his first impression of Borokov Borokov. The music they sent me hardly had a recognizable melody, and it was very disquieting. I couldn't find room for a chorus anywhere. Or at least nothing that would make people spontaneously clap their hands. But the end result, Rita De Rover, sounds fine. I really couldn't have done better! 

When I looked them up on Google it turned out to be a band without a drummer,' says Van Bommel's fellow countryman Huub Prins, who can be heard on Moeilijke Tijden. 'Apart from Urbanus, I know very little about Belgian artists. But anyway, they had more listeners on Spotify than I did, so I could only take advantage of it. They gave me carte blanche for the lyrics, and I wrote something about Moses who wanders through the desert,  stoned to the core. I had seen something about it on National Geographic.'. 

Mia Prce of Miaux, who lends her vocal chords to the song GELD, was given ready-made vocal material. They were looking for someone who spoke a Slavic language - my roots are in Croatia - but they had written the lyrics themselves using Google Translate and Text To Speech software. The fact that I thought it sounded rather archaic didn't seem to bother them. So my input for Borokov Borokov was rather limited, but I like their energy. I myself usually stand on the stage like a cardboard sign'. 

Isolde Van Den Bulcke, the Ghent siren known as Tristan, can be reached at +32456393836 (not her phone number), and says that she said 'yes' because of Noah’s beautiful eyes. Kanna Sato sent a message from Japan saying she always dreamed of having a number one hit in Belgium (that was promised to her with ぜんぶ、できる), and Dennis Tyfus tells that he happened to have seven minutes to cry on the song Grappige Man(cry, yes).  

Finally, the mysterious duo Bobonne & Parrain informs by email that they distance themselves from their contribution to Sexboy. They wanted us to sing something in French. That didn't work at all. Besides, the lyrics were very sexist. So we limited ourselves to gargling and fart-sounds. We happen to be good at that, and that's all we wanted to do. We wish Borokov Borokov the best of luck with their absurd attempts at pop music. Or attempts at absurd pop music, whatever'.

De Kloe Hits: De Kloe is an Antwerp/Brussels-based band. They play organic, homegrown dance beats mixed with raw musical themes and bare-boned structures. It serves as the starting point for musical improvisation and playful experimentation.
‘De Kloe Hits’ is De Kloe’s debut EP on Rotkat Records. Earlier, they released the first single from the EP, ‘Hit It.’ This single revolves around a tight drum ‘n bass beat, an elastic bassline, and an airy garage/surf guitar riff. Throughout the rest of the EP, various musical ideas are layered and woven together to create new hybrids. In this sense, ‘De Kloe Hits’ perfectly aligns with Dennis Tyfus’ description following their concert at De Nor: “When five entirely different bands play together and it magically works.”
Over the years, De Kloe has performed on various stages, including De Nor, Onder Stroom, Leffingeleuren, and Signaal Festival. Until now, they’ve released several demo tapes, live recordings, and various standalone tracks independently. For ‘De Kloe Hits,’ the group aimed to maintain a close connection to live recordings. While there’s more focus on a specific sound compared to previous releases, a certain DIY-approach still persists.
The EP was recorded in the rural town of Schelderode, alongside Sergey Steenackers, who also mixed the EP. The songs were written some time before and matured through numerous concerts and rehearsals, resulting in the versions heard on ‘De Kloe Hits.’ Karel De Backer handled the mastering.
‘De Kloe Hits’ will be available both online via popular streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, Bandcamp, etc.) and on cassette. Only hits included! 
The release of ‘De Kloe Hits’ is accompanied by a tour that begins on February 2nd at Het Bos in Antwerp. Other tour dates include:

Al enkele jaren heeft De Kloe verschillende podia bespeeld, waaronder De Nor, Onder Stroom, Leffingeleuren en Signaal Festival. Tot nu bracht De Kloe al verschillende demo-tapes, live recordings en allerlei losse tracks uit in eigen beheer. Voor ‘De Kloe Hits’ heeft de groep dan ook dicht bij live-opnames willen blijven. Hoewel er meer aandacht is voor een bepaalde sound dan op eerdere releases, is er nog steeds sprake van een zekere DIY-aanpak. 
De EP werd opgenomen in het landelijke Schelderode, samen met Sergey Steenackers, die de EP ook gemixt heeft. De nummers werden echter al enige tijd daarvoor geschreven en zijn doorheen de loop van verscheidene concerten en repetities gerijpt tot de versies hoorbaar op ‘De Kloe Hits’. De EP werd gemasterd door Karel De Backer. 
‘De Kloe Hits’ verschijnt zowel online via populaire streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, Bandcamp, …) als op cassette. Alleen hits incluis!!!
