~Time for our little Q&A~

>>Who are you and where are you from?
My name is Dion and I live in Amsterdam. I didn’t grow up here though, i’m originally from a small village in the east, pretty close to the german border.

>>How did your musical journey start?
When i was 16 (that’s 19 years ago) I was really into hiphop and I loved the sound of scratching so much that I just had to give it a go. So I got my first mixer (which was a realistic stereo mixer). The mixer was basically a VU meter with 2 volume faders and a headphone output (sidenote to other DJ’s, if you want to have a good laugh, you can probably find the mixer on google). Anyway we had a turntable at home and I bought a cheap 2nd hand one myself to connect it to the mixer and started fiddling around a bit. Everything changed though. When I was digging for new records, I discovered house music. I started collecting and soon afterwards started dj-ing in a nearby discotheque which was a lot of fun. I think it was in my early twenties i also started producing.

>>What do you particularly like about "slow" music?
What I particularly like about downtempo, is that every single sound in a track, gets more space to breathe, resonate and therefor really get through to you. What I also really like is that it can be experienced in many different ways. People can enjoy the music either chilling-out or dancing.

>>What is your current favorite track (on what bpm if its pitched)?
Ohh wow.. There are soo many and it's really hard to name just one track. One of the most intriguing tracks at the moment for me is Guldregn by Baime. Pitched down to 105 bpm (that’s about as fast as i go) something magical happens with this already wonderful track. It’s not in this set though, since my mood didn’t really send me a dark and techy way.

>>A set that you listen to over and over again?
I don't really listen complete sets multiple times often. If I should name one which was really gamechanging for me, I would have to mention the set Martha van Straaten played at Karl Kutter at Fusion 2015. However the most transforming set for me was get lost V by Acid Pauli.

>>Whats your favorite festival?
Ahhh.. difficult question cause there are sooo many. Nomade really tickles all my senses, but it would be really horrible of me if I wouldn't mention Fusion here, cause this festival brings me soo much inspiration year after year.

Tom was born on October 24, 1979 in Sonneberg. At the age of 16 he discovered his love for electronic music. At that time he was inspired by music sets of Richie Hawtin, Sven Väth, Karotte and many other artists.He also had a big interest in spinning records.

I have not been able to recover access to my other account [https://soundcloud.com/ha-kekong] for a couple of years.  I have tried a few times to get back into it but SoundCloud doesn't trust me.  Same phone number, same email addresses, and they still claim that they can't verify my identity.  I created that account about three years ago as a substitute to my regular account which SoundCloud temporarily closed.  They closed it as part of some upgrade procedure in their system, the result of a bug that affected many accounts, about two years ago.  Since SC did not inform its users I didn't know if that was permanent or not, so I created that other account which I can't access.  Don't be mad if I have not replied to your message in the past two years, that's because I never got them ; ) ... You can always reach me here though.

You can't see it because of the angle with which I took the shot, aiming down, but beyond those blocks is the sea.  To the left is the Mediterranean, to the right is the Atlantic Ocean.  No it's not Gibraltar, but a little bit further West. ... Actually I checked recently and it is further North more than West, I thought I was facing South when in fact I probably was facing the Atlantic ocean, which is why I suppose the waves were of a decent size where we were.
